He is the worst teacher Brooklyn College has ever seen. He gave back our readstories with NO grades, as if he never even looked at them. He forgets everything and has a nasty attitude. Gave everyone a B because nothing was graded. DO NOT TAKE HIM, he was my main source of educational frustration. save yourself!!!

I feel folks give Meppen a hard time. Yes he does have a habit of going off on tangents in class but when he IS teaching he's great. The problem with some students is that he requires you to WORK. And apparently that's not very popular.

This was the greatest course I ever had. We produced 3 news shows that aired on cable. It was like doing the real thing. All those older comments are sour grapes. During that semester he had emergency back surgery and another teacher took over. She's the one that was bad.

He's a nice, friendly guy. He expects you to read the text and gives quizzes on it. Take notes. He also puts his lectures into the tests. He seems to be a hard grader during the semester but he gives you a break on the final grade. Knows BJ inside out.

i say this without exaggeration: the worst teacher i've had in my life. lazy, rude, boring, ignorant, narrow-minded. waste of time and money. if you wanna major in BJ go to another school. he doesnt give a crap about the students, doesnt even bother to learn anyone's names. barely teaches anything. he should do everyone a favor and retire.THE WORST

Meppen really does become someone else during SBNI. I had him for 6.5 and 16 and he doesn't teach, but I totally recommend SBNI for the 9 credits, extra production and learning experience, and a nicer, more pleasant Meppen.

Rude. Thinks he knows everything but doesnt. Will actually make u feel stupid if given the chance. However his class was EXTREMELY EASY. He wants to be there less than u do & he proves that by showing up late to EVERY single class. but will **** if u come late. all of the comments here were right. meppen is condescending and uses class time to laugh at his numerous not so funny jokes. and joe is awfully creepy. his tests are 25 question m/c tests that are WAY too specific. unless you remember every detail of the book (even dates-although he TELLS you not to) you'll most likely find the tests to be difficu

He's condesending, rude, and he'll crap on your work. You can never finish when you read your work aloud b/c he's constantly laughing at what you're saying and even the volume of your voice. when he does like your work he wont say it. he'll basically ignore it. Overall however his class was NOT stressful. he's just rude.

Has a lot of knowledge about tv and is helpful. Always threatens to give out 0 quiz grades but never does. His classes are fairly easy if you do the work. Each of his classes have always been easy A's and B's for me and I've had him 4 times. His very fair but beware of JOE he is no help at all, just a distraction.
