Comment:

This is her summer study abroad course in Italy! As an engineering major, I needed to study up on the lingo, but in the end it was fine. Lectures were technical & the projects/papers were interesting. Amanda is strict with the class but is understanding one-on-one. Projects take a lot of time. Honors contract was fairly easy!

Do not take this professor if you are a student who needs help. I emailed her 3 different times throughout the class and did not receive a response. My emails are always professional. In the GLG 111 portion there is no way to know what your grade is as she doesn't communicate and doesn't put those scores on blackboard. Too many irrelevant facts.

Comment:

Good choice to earn a SG credit in the business school. Very interesting material. If you earn below a 95% you somehow get an A-??? All assignments, labs, and tests are very easy and answers are accessible online. Also allows multiple attempts on assignments and labs. Not great over email, so don't expect help.

I'm really bummed I am giving this class and teacher a low rating. I really wanted to like it because the topics/material this class covers is so interesting to me. I have given her a low rating because she is a tough grader, the lectures are incredibly boring, and lastly, the tests really are not long enough for how many questions she puts on it.

Too many irrelevant details to remember unless you plan on being a geologist for a living. Lots of information, but again , irrelevant unless you live In Indonesia waiting for a tsunami to happen or St Andreas fault waiting for earthquakes. Again, too much of everything that you might never need.

The class consisted of outmoded lectures videos uploaded on youtube, chapter end exercises, and four tests. Book was useful, no codes required. Quite interesting subject, just very poorly executed.

I am taking online Session B course. Lectures are very long & there are 3 exams plus a final. Grading scales is pretty steep, as someone else said. Receiving below a 95% is an A-. Exams happen every other week and are open for about 4-5 days, but timed. Don't try to look everything up, theres no time, so the most you could get is maybe an 80% on it

Couple of quizzes each week, 3 tests, and the final. The content is easy to read up on and very straight-forward. Good communication between the professor and students as well. There was maybe 10 - 12 hours of work for this course, tops.

I say tough grader because of the ridiculous grading scale. I think it's intended to help people not fail, but it also makes it so you get an A- unless you get 95% (ridiculous). Splits lectures up, really inefficient. But she's very nice and I would highly suggest taking her. It will just require probably way more work than you'd expect. Good luck.

Ranked her low on clarity because her tests are mostly on stupid trivia about disasters and how many people died in them and very little to do with actual geological processes. It's super annoying to study hard for a test and then end up Googling trivial facts that have nothing to do with anything.

Easy class if you put in the effort. All the labs were released the first day of class and we got to complete them at our own pace. I finished it in a few weeks which allowed me to focus on other classes. Lowest lab got dropped and most labs allowed for multiple attempts.

Took this class online. Video lectures can be time-consuming so DO NOT wait until last minute to watch them. Also take lots of notes. Tests are simple enough - just make sure that you review questions used on prior tests because some questions are identical. Easy A if you do the work.

class is super easy! just two short disaster of the month essays and four exams. she even tells you exactly what you did wrong on your first essay so you can do better on your next one. DEF take this class. Lab is super easy too just seven online labs that you have to read some material.
