Comment:

Literally not a fan, didn't explain color theory basically at all, horrible instructions, just overall a professor to really avoid. Effort doesn't matter, even though he doesn't even instruct you properly for an actual painting class.

I followed all of the super vague rubrics and spent most of my free time working on assignments and I never got above an 89 on anything. There were multiple times where I felt like I was back in highschool multiple times because he refused to respect you as an adult. Lectures didn't pertain to class and lots of assignments with no value.

Pt. 3 He's honestly not too terrible he's just a strange man who has a hard time articulating thoughts. His quirky but bland personality will definitely test your patience. Also I know no one who has ever seen any of his actual art pieces so thats a little odd. Don't be too scared of his classes just be ready to cater to exactly what he wants.

Pt. 2 If you are an art major and know how to draw or paint his class will not be helpful in any sense but if you know nothing you'll definitely get a good foundation. He is tolerable you just need to know how to work the system. Put your own artistic integrity aside and try and do what you think he would like best & visit office hours for clarity

Dr. Adams was in a word, horrible. He doesn't teach very well and is completely unclear with everything we did. He's pushy and angry all the time. I came into the class loving to draw and as an Art Major, within 2 weeks I had changed majors and felt defeated.

Lectures were often all over the place and made no sense in connection with the material studied. I cam into the class as an art enthusiast and left horribly disgusted, beaten down, stressed, and confused. His test were ridiculous because basically all you had to do was memorize works of art, but it was a guessing game trying to figure which ones.

Dr. Adams is terribly unclear. Pay close attention. I came into this class loving to draw, and left discouraged and upset. I received a 4 on AP art and could hardly keep up with his instructions. He just...isn't clear in what he wants. Expect his gradings to be subjective.

I had Adams for three courses my Freshmen year. He's stubborn, pushy, critical, and pessimistic. The projects themselves aren't necessarily hard, he is just a very odd grader. I witnessed students abandoning all traces of their artistic talent to conform to his expectations. His classes are not for the faint of heart.

Great professor, constantly pushes you to become better and you start learning from the most basics. Helps after class hours and you get to hangout and do art in the building anytime you want. The people talking Adams down were expecting a middle school arts and crafts class and became upset when they realized they werent good :/ dont take 4fun!

A lot of people do not like Dr. Adams, but he is not that bad at all. Honestly, many people don't like him because they don't do well in the class, and they don't do well because they don't try hard enough. He's laid back, gives time to chill after a project, says random things, but ask and he'll clarify. Good at teaching, I learned a lot.

I'm virtually positive that all of the good reviews were written by himself... no one likes him. He grades very subjectively and unpredictably. The materials were as low quality as the teaching. I am extremely disappointed.

Dr. Adams does his best to foster your development as an artist no matter what your level. His is a time consuming class with some unconventional teaching methods, but that just makes it more interesting. Directions for projects are pretty vague. Don't expect an easy A, but if you want to grow and be challenged, Adams would be a great choice.

Adams is a narcissist. He thinks he is better than everyone else and has no patience for less than perfection. He has been known to work students to the bone and even make them cry. On a positive note, he knows a lot and is enthusiastic about the material. Just don't expect an easy A.
