This is the first time he's taught this class in 10 years and it shows. Tests are esoteric and cover things we never learned in the class. Dr. Graves is helpful, but he reads off the PowerPoint. The book is "suggested" but I would buy it-- it's taught me way more than Dr. Graves has.

As a meteorology major, I really loved having Graves as a professor. That being said, I can understand why a non-science major would feel differently. His classes weren't difficult (for a meteo-major) and they were usually fairly funny (for a meteo-major). Give the guy a shot, he's nerdy but only because hes so smart and loves what he does.

I took Dr. Grave's "Understanding the Weather" class to fulfill my science requirement. As a business student, I had no interest in Meteorology, so this class was more difficult for me than I would have liked. Regardless, Dr. Graves is extremely helpful and always willing to help you on assignments. He's approachable and the cutest science nerd!

I am a straight A student and I am definitely struggling in EAS107. I did not think this class would be a joke, but I thought it would be okay. Turns out don't have a clue what Dr. Graves is saying, and do hit and miss on baffling homework. The T.A. has explained to me what little I do know, but overall very frustrating experience.

He is a very intelligent man and loves what he does. He has a passion for the physics within the atmosphere. He seems to be a hard teacher but that is the subject he is teaching. If you need any help or have a question, his office is always open and he will explain anything to you before or after class in any of his courses, I have had many of them

Doc Graves is an awesome guy! Two tests and some Excel projects. I took it at 9am and have only been to a handful of classes and I still have a high B/low A. You should definitely take this class if you need an easy science requirement!

-You don't need the book at all. Go to class to take the notes, you barely need to comprehend. Just copy what he writes on the board. He will give you a study guide for the one test we take. 2nd half of the semester, virtually all classes are optional. 4 easy Excel assignments. Prof Graves is a cool, laid-back guy. Easy A for science requirement

This class so sweet. He does not make you come to class and the book is not required...he even tells you not to buy it. Everything he writes on the board is all you know have know for the exam. This class is an easy A.

Dr. Graves is a weather dork to the max. This class is not a joke, its way too much work. The lectures are disorganized and incomprehensible. The tests are so difficult they have to be curved heavily so that the class passes. Somehow I ended up with a B after struggling the entire semester. Do NOT take this class unless you love weather!

Graves is the best. Don;t buy the book, all you have to do is go to class and take his notes. Lets you out early and cancells alot of classes. Tests are ridiculously easy and only require a max of 2 hours to study for. Quizzes and hmwk are a joke. Material covered is basic and easy bc he knows we're not weather majors. TAKE HIM!!!!

Previous comments are misleading. This class was difficult even if you attend every class. Lecture notes are disorganized and he relies on a lot of diagrams to teach the material. The 4 multiple choice tests are heavily curved because they have many complex questions. I would not recommend this class unless you're a meteorology buff.

Previous comments on this site are misleading. Maybe on previous years this class was easier, but this class now is hard. Even when one studies for his tests the multipule choice questions are unnecessarly hard. He has to greatly curve each test.

Dr. Graves is awesome! You might have to attend class to understand the notes (never used the book, tests are directly from lecture notes), but if you need help he is ecstatic to give it. He likes to laugh and talk to students, too. One of the nicest professors around!

graves is kind of nerdy but knows his stuff, tests are pretty easy if you go to class and study your notes, will be hard if you blow it off, otherwise easy A and topics can be interesting throughout the semester, first section isnt though

A class you must attend to do well. I probably couldve gotten an A if i went to all the classes. Easy quizzes and homework help the grades out. not a class you can blow off. I like his grading but the material isnt the easiest out there. Fairly good at explaining things, smart man.
