Comment:

Hard work, but assignments are relevant. Have to read for exams. I took with two other classes and working FT, making it harder than it should have been. The business analysis projects utilized SAS EG and he provided little instruction on how to use it, without the help of classmates and the DBs, the projects would have been difficult to complete.

Took during summer so it was a lot of work. 2 position papers, 2 group cases, 6 online discussion boards, midterm, & final. Professor very engaged & gives help in a timely manner. Assignments are relevant. Must participate in discussion boards. Exams are multiple choice, 2 problems, & 1 essay but not too hard. I enjoyed this class b/c of Dr. West.

Comment:

Good professor and fair grader. Heavy BlackBoard discussion participation required. Tests are straight forward and he provides focus areas ahead of time. Groups are randomly assigned which stinks if you get stuck with a lousy team. Responds to BlackBoard questions timely. Lots of reading from text and case papers. Overall, solid professor.

Good overall class - would have preferred a little more interaction on the lectures or projects. Honestly wish to take again because my time was taken up with Management Science. Easy A but it does take effort and learning. overall a good class just wish i wasn't occupied with another to enjoy it.

A lot of hoops to jump through, and not all of them clearly germane to the goals of the course, but all pretty interesting nonetheless. Dr. West was great with me. Always willing to answer questions to make sure you understand the material. VERY helpful with group projects. Study, do the homework, make an effort, and it's all good.

Friendly man, but does not seem to prepare thorough lectures. As a foundation course for the MBA program you learn very little and are assigned a lot of supplemental work that is just busy work- worrisome. Could have gotten an A, but dropped in favor of taking another professor who will hopefully impart some more personal experience and knowledge.

Took for a SS. Very interesting course with LOTS of material and work. 2 Group Cases,2 Papers,2 Exams,& wkly DB posts. STAY ON PACE. Relaxed grader. Easy to reach and quick to reply. Understand the HW and focus on his study guide. He LOVES Harvard articles and sending emails. At the end I counted 70+ emails sent! Great guy highly recommend!

Professor is fantastic, lots of material but not overly difficult. I took in summer over 5 weeks; lots of information for a 5 week course. Discussion boards are mandatory and go a long way in raising grade if needed. I would highly recommend Dr. West.

Dr. West is one of the best professors I've ever had. Incredibly helpful and provides insightful examples from the real world. His lectures are not to be missed both from a test preparation standpoint and learn as much as you can POV. Genuinely nice person who cares about teaching!

Dr West is very cool. There are alot of grades for this course so naturally there are is a lot of work, at fair amount. 2 cases, 2 papers, 2 BA projects, and DB posts. They are mostly short assignments and I didn't get under an 80 on any. Good class. I would take him again.

THREE TWO PAGE PAPERS AND TWO GROUP PAPERS. THE GROUP PAPERS AREN'T BAD, SO DON'T STRESS. HE GIVES TWO TESTS, OFFERS A STUDY GUIDE, AND LETS YOU BRING A SHEET OF NOTES. ALTHOUGH, I DON'T FEEL LIKE MY NOTES HELPED ME ANY.

Took DE. On the surface this class may seem overwhelming. He sends out several e-mails almost everyday, but most are just repeats of what is on the course site. 2 cases and 3 position papers are graded leniently, and he basically tells you everything that is on the test beforehand. Make a good note page for the exams and you will do fine.

Took D/E class. He does send 20+ emails a day, but everything he sends is just extra information. When it comes down to the test, he lets you bring a page of notes and tells you exactly what is on it. Not bad at all.

Online & summer class. This class is was a full time job. Professor commuincates multiple times a day via email and reiterates information posted on Blackboard. He is passionate about the subject and gives helpful articles, tools, videos, and powerpoints to drive concepts. Review homework and answers because they will be on the exams.

Good professor. Sends a lot of information. He tries to be helpful & send thoughtful articles about the class in current news. Sometimes it became overwhelming the amounts of emails I would receive on a daily basis.

Comment:

I took Operations & Supply Chain Management with Professor West online for my MBA. The work is demanding, and he breaks up the assignments into DB posts, group cases, and position papers, along with a mid-term and a final. He also posts helpful video to review the material, and show you how to do the problems in excel. I highly recommend. :)

I don't understand how people have rated him as difficult. His tests are straight from his study guides (and he practically tells you the problems on them), he grades the papers really leniently, and I think it's impossible to get under a 90 on DBs if you do them (I mailed in several of them and got A's). He's really helpful as well. Great class

Received an A in the summer class. Professor gives review sheets for the test. Know what's on the review sheet, and the homework. Homework plus discussion questions plus 2 individual and 2 group papers. Demanding but an enjoyable class. Good instructor.

Professor West is wonderful. He really cares about the subject and finds meaningful and creative ways to teach, including interesting articles. I took the course online during the summer so it was definitely demanding, but worth it. He grades fairly as long as you put in the effort.
