Becker is a terrible professor. He has a very smart mouth and if you ask for help 9/10 you'll be more confused after the conversation is over. Overall, terrible experience and I would give him the benefit of doubt because it was a 8 week online course but that didn't stop him from overloading us with assignments/projects. Honestly, just pray

This dude is INSANE. Entirely too many papers, VERY tough grader, and doesn't give directions at ALL. Just throws a rubric at you as direction so you have no idea what you're going to get. His lectures are not helpful and the projects are so much research. DO NOT TAKE HIM and if you do.. don't take any other classes and quit your job.

This class is pretty tough on its own, and having him as a professor made it 100 times more difficult. If you can take this class with a different professor DO IT. I feel that he picks on everyone in class and makes you feel dumb because he is a know it all. If you have to take this course with him.... Good luck....

Not as bad as everyone says. I am an average student and got an A in the class. Go to this office hours, have him look over assignments before you turn them in (especially your presentation). Ask him what he's looking for in each assignment. Make him know your name. If he knows you're trying and that you care you'll pass.

He's a REALLY tough grader, you should be happy with a B in the class. He knows what he's talking about and really prepares you for the real world, but the way he goes about it is wrong. Very harsh and critical, but overall good guy. Asking him a question so hard because he is so rude about it

Class was not bad overall. The only downside is that he is looking for particular answers in your Discussion Boards which can hurt your grade if you aren't on the right track. No extra credit. Course schedule is pretty much straightforward.

The work in itself isn't hard, but his grading is ridiculous. By the middle of the semester, I was happy to see a 50% on our act assignment. Don't ask questions about due dates or assignments, because it's in the syllabus and he'll make you feel like an idiot. You will learn in the class, but the professor is not someone many people like.

Follow directions directly as follows. If you think too much while doing the assignments, you're doing it wrong. The first day he says he is a "Giant Teddy Bear". He gets sassy when you don't pass that along. He really knows what he's talking about even if is sounds like gibberish. Group presentation is base don how you present, not content.

Tough professor- but he's amazing. Honestly if you can't handle a tough professor while you're nearing the end of your college career- good luck in the real world. Dr. Becker has high expectations because he wants you to be successful. I have learned the most from him out of any other professor I have had at ECU. Challenge yourself- take him!

Your grade depends on how good of a day he's having. He'll make you sit down during your chapter presentation and chew you out if he's already having a bad day. GOOD LUCK HAHA

The only advice I have for anyone is look at course equilivances at another school and take it there. Do NOT take any class with him. I would try to get him fired but I'm sure thousands of students have already tried that.

Not as bad as everyone makes him seem to be. You will survive:). He is actually a great teacher and has a sense of humor. He is mostly concerned about you being focused in his class, and please NO CELL PHONES, because he will ask you to leave. Best thing you can do for his class is be prepared and have fun!

grading for discussion boards is terrible. His questions that he asks are vague, and regardless if you answer them correctly or not, if you do not give something along his answer, you won't receive a good grade. His explanations for grades are confusing. Some weeks I would get 810 on DB's, and some weeks I would get 610 by doing the same thing

I have been out of college for five years. I took Dr Becker in Grad and under grad. It is a hard course but you know every assignment the first day of class. I use more of what I learned from his class than any other health ed course.

I'm currently finishing up my first year of medical school, and looking back, Dr. Becker's class was one of the best and most helpful courses I had throughout my entire undergraduate education. He does a great job of covering the material, gets excited about what he teaches, is a phenomenal lecturer, and changed the way I think about health.

I am currently in his class now and will be finishing up in 2 months. Everyone is completely right when they say he is a very arrogant man and he does always shoot down your questions during discussions, there is a lot of work, but in the long run you will have a brand new perspective on how you look at health, trust me. Hang in there!

I had a girls homework from the year before, she received 4 out of 4 on every activity. I copied them word for word, I received 2 and 3out of 4s. Unfair, pointless busy work, immature, not funny though he tries harrrrrd. Arrogant and unprofessional.

Having worked in higher education for many years, I have never been spoken to by a professor in a manner as I was by Dr. Becker. As a distance education student and I can't imagine what it would be like meeting him in person. He is extremely unprofessional and condescending. I will be shocked if he remains a faculty member at ANY institution.
