he is a good prof. he uses aleks which is one of the best online tools. the major problem people have with him is his use of aleks. but let me tell you, he knows what he's doing, he uses aleks cuz it really helps you to learn. if you ask him questions, he WILL help you out till your problems solved!

I took this class and I did not learn much from the teacher and the lectures. I had to teach myself everything because he was not nice and extremely unhelpful and especially unfair with grades. I DO NOT recommend this at all. He should retire.

Professor Casey does have his own way of teaching and he does rely on ALEKS, however if you do open your mouth and ask about something that u dont understand, he will help you; he cant help if you dont ask. I think the comments on here should stay to how he teaches, not him as a person.

Worst teacher ever. Makes you use online software called ALEKS. Everything is taught through ALEKS, so if you can learn math by reading, then take the class. If you need a teacher that SHOWS you how to do it, do not take this class. He makes it much harder than it should be. I feel like everything I learned in this class I had to learn on my own !

I do well in his class bec. I spend a lot of time doing and redoing ALEKS homework. When ALEKS isn't clear, I'll Google an explanation. Casey doesn't really teach the course for me; ALEKS does -- which is great. I can study ahead, finish my homework weeks in advance, relax, and never feel frustrated. Now I look for professors who use ALEKS!

I took Professor Casey's "Elementary Algebra" class online. That was my first mistake. He uses Aleks and that is it. He is not involved in teaching what so ever, and so I relied heavily on the e-book that came with the Aleks subscription. He is a stickler for showing work even when its not necessary. Do yourself and GPA a favor, don't take him.

Professor Casey is quite the character. Very spazzy and way too dependent on technology. I wasn't a fan of the Aleks math program he had us use. During one of our tests the servers crashed x(. There is no textbook involved. Just an 80 dollar internet program. He'll help you if you ask. But all in all, it was a disorganized mess of a class.

Professor Casey is a nice guy, however we learned everything from the book. That didn't help me much. It's easy but he does give a lot of hw. Towards the end of the semester, no one came to class. He gets side tracked a lot and talks about non related math subjects. I would say this is like an on line class. You have to be a self learner.

constantly forgets what he is teaching, losses tests, definetely incompetent when it comes to teaching math, loses track easily always talking about wall street and the stock market teaches other subjects that have no purpose for required tests suggestion do not take take casey for any math classes......

Just to clarify, I don't suck at math. Fall 09 ends in a week & I'm one of the top students in MA 149. I aced 148 easily. Casey CANNOT teach. He's a really nice guy and he knows math, but he doesn't know how to teach it. He's not very interesting and I didn't understand his methods. He managed to make the easiest equations complicated. Do not take.

The class is passable but a lot of that is due to the mandatory "aleks" program. I didn't go to class for two weeks, only did aleks, and passed the test compared to people who never missed but were completely lost. Not the greatest teacher. CLEARS HIS THROAT EVERY 2 MINUTES.

If you decide to take him, good luck. But I honestly don't recommend taking this teacher, because it's not an easy A. He may look smart like what the other students have said, but he was not useful. He thinks we would know the material by the time we get to class, so he skips lessons and reads over problems and put them in the board. But in my opin
