Dr Folz is immensely intelligent and heads the Legislative Internship and the prestigious MPPA program. He is a man of great character and deserves the upmost respect for his 30+ years service at the University of Tennessee. His class was challenging but easily the most eye opening. People complaining of bias just cant handle diversity.

Lectures will put you to sleep. He had much gumption at the beginning of the semester but towards the end he became grumpy and wouldn't respond to class emails.

Dr. Folz is a good teacher. His class is basically 3 tests that make up 75% of your grade and then a few assignments, attendance, and quizzes worth the last 25%. He will give a couple of extra credit quizzes and let's you write an extra credit paper if you want, but the paper is difficult so I passed on it. He gives you a study guide for tests.

He's a good teacher and he definitely knows the material. That being said, if you want an objective instructor he is not the guy. If you can't stand libertarians, then this guy is not the instructor for you.

Great teacher! Discussions in class help you understand the material better and stay engaged. Study guides are large, but if you study, you'll be fine. Readings are short and sweet. He's rather conservative, but if you listen with an open mind- you'll realize some of it makes sense. I went from a Conservative to a Libertarian. I recommend him!

Dr. Folz is a professor that requires a lot of reading to pass his exams. He is thorough in what is expected for the exam, but the study guide has over 100 questions! If you are not a good test taker I do not recommend this class. It is definitely the hardest class I am taking this semester. His class is the reason I changed Polysci to my minor.

Dr. Folz is one of the best professors at UT. Whether you like his politics or not, he is very helpful and lets you know exactly what to expect on exams. He is clear on your responsibilities and is always willing to help. Hell.. I'm less of a liberal now cause of him ;)

Very conservative, but considering most of the professors here are liberals it was kind of refreshing. The study guides are the best thing he gives you.If you know everything on those pages you will make an A on the tests. The pop quizzes are mostly about the articles and upcoming power point notes, so it doesn?t hurt to look ahead.

VERY conservative and let's you know it. Don't even bother reading the textbook. Read the articles on the syllabus, and you'll do fine. Has pop quizzes. Study guides are VERY helpful. All test questions come from study guides. I'd take him again. He was an intelligent, helpful professor despite his political opinions.

Dr. Folz has got to be one of the most politicized professor's I've ever had to suffer through for the duration of a semester. He is unwavering in his beliefs and won't accept or discuss ideas that don't befit his ideology. As a Poli-Sci major, I don't recommend his State Gov class and would never take this man again.

I had Dr. Folz for State and Local government and it was one of my favorite classes at UT. I really liked it that he didn't push the Liberal dogma like a lot of other Political Science professors. He is the definition of an educator. If you come to class and participate you'll do well!

He really knows what he is talking about. Although the material can seem boring at times, it is not hard as long as you read and look over the powerpoints he sends you before class. He also gives plenty of extra credit opportunities.

Dr. Folz was the best professor I had while attending UTK. He is very engaging and comes to class well prepared. He expects the same of his students. I liked the fact that he was not the typical liberal loser that so many UT faculty exude. I liked him a lot ... and I would highly recommend him!

Very nerdy, but not as dated as he seems on the surface. The surface being a shirt, floral tie and non-matching sweater. He's been a surprisingly good teacher. I thought he was going to be hard, but his tests are pretty straight forward. He's always willing to help out in office hours and look over your projects before hand. I'd take him again.

I don't know what everyone else is talking about. Dr. Folz is a great guy, and his class is very relaxed and EASY. He sends everyone PPoint notes. All you have to do is take a few extra notes in class. Go to class, pay attention, and you'll make a good grade. A great guy.

He's tough, but that is because he wants your work to stand up on its own outside of the classroom. You need to take his class(es) if you are a PA focus.

He is a hard professor and you definately have to do all the work (and there is a fair amount) to get a good grade, but I think that I learned more from him than from any of the other PS profs.
