I rate him a 5 because he's not only funny but also inspirational. I like how he can be blunt and straightforward; personally, I rather have that kind of teacher than a nice guy who doesn't know how to teach. He will give everything you need. He provides a lot of extra credit. He will polish your writing skills even more. I promise!

Comment:

Kubota is the best professor I have ever had. He is funny, helpful, and encouraging. I wish I could take more of his classes, but I already took the two that he teaches at KCC. I recommend him to literally everyone.

He is an excellent teacher and I would definitely take his class again. The papers are typically 4 pages long (2 pages writing, 2 pages analytical). He gives out LOTS of extra credit and makes the class extremely fun for his students. If you are the nerdier type, this is definitely the class for you! You will pass no problem.

Lots of EC if you need it. Easy assignments and grading. Really invested in revision and helping students translate ideas in writing. Dedicated a lot of time to assisting students in and out of classroom - truly believes in students' potential. Tells it like it is, no bull or hidden agendas. Choose him over other prof's. (Trust me, he's better)

I first thought that he wasn't clear about his assignments. Then I realized that he didn't want to hinder my creativity by being to hard at the beginning. He really sticks to life lessons and what you want to carry throughout entire writing career. Dorky, yes. Inspirational, totally. Take again. YES PLEASE! So glad that I took the chance on him.

Let's just say this dude loves Severus Snape. He has "Snape secrets" he will be unloading all semester long. His lectures are quirky and filled with goofballfanboy humor, but he does know his writing. He is not so much concerned with writing mechanics, but more with the slop you insert. Tons of EC. Finished the class at over 100%. Take him.

The course itself intrigued me, however I did not like his teaching approach. Assignments were not presented clearly and I felt overloaded with unnecessary handouts. When I went to him for help, he acted like it pained him to speak to me. He never looked me in the eye. Never had a teacher like this. My inspiration level fell hard with this teacher

Absolutely the best English teacher. Very philosophical; believing that every write needs to find his or her own voice. He's improved my writing in one semester more than four years of high school did. It was a lot of writing, however there is no real quizzes or finals. He offers multiple extra credit assignment to fall back on.
