Favorite Professor. Passion, patriotism, insight. His lectures are great. He goes over docs and if you highlight the portions and review them before next class, you will do well on the quizzes. Not a tough grader, just grader specific. Pay attention and you will do well. Can't recommend enough, all his classes are amazing. You'll learn a lot.

I enjoyed Professor McGrath's class tremendously. He is truly an incredible lecturer. Even though we disagree on a lot, I found so much value in his class and specifically in the way that he teaches. He is also fair and responds quickly to emails.

Comment:
McGrath is an awesome professor with lots of insight. Provides historical context and philosophical evolutions for cases which really help illustrate why the court ruled as they did. He is definitely conservative but extremely fair and the most objective grader I've encountered. Frustrating at times, but I loved his classes.

This class is as much about organization as it is about conlaw. Print out each case and highlight as he reads in class. Don't skip this. Tests are open note/book but they are HARD and you have to know the cases well to know what you're looking for. Brilliant guy w/ so much information, passionate about everything, and readily presents both sides.

McGrath is a brilliant and humble man who truly cares about his students AND what he teaches about. He's a breath of fresh air at a liberal school where the majority of the JPLA professors just want their voice to be heard. There is a lot of reading but he makes it interesting. People on both sides of the isle have a deep respect for him, obviously

Invest in some really good highlighters. Read with his brain and not yours because that will help you pass the weekly exams. Skip on reading and you will not pass the class. I'm taking him again for two other classes this upcoming semester because I love a challenge and he will definitely challenge your brain.

I am used to reading but Dr. McGrath is on another level. It took me weeks to learn his style in order to pass his weekly tests. I did better towards the end of the semester. I received a C on one of my essays and that was the first C I've ever gotten. I felt defeated but our next three essays for the final, I got 3 As and I saw him smile a little.

By far the best Professor I've had. He is extremely fair in his lectures towards both sides of an argument but will spend a good deal of time talking about the majority opinion, as it sets precedent. He is obviously very knowledgeable and smart but encourages classroom debate to and from students who disagree with him. I look forward to his class.

I had 3 classes with this professor and I am done the class is civil liberties and he pretends to know exactly what the framers of the constitution were thinking he must have been there during the writing process he teaches only from the "traditionalist " point if view and almost never presents the case from both sides. Don't take this professor.

Brilliant professor. Has very clear expectations that can be easily met by reading the assigned work. McGrath does not disguise his opinions as fact; rather, he explains them and the assumptions that underlie them. Really the best teacher I've had.

Dr. McGrath is definitely one of if not THE best professors I have ever had (after 3 years of college). His lectures are so interesting, and he supports all his arguments with facts. He requires a lot of reading, but he explains everything you need to know for tests and quizes. I would definitely suggest taking one of McGrath's classes!!

McGrath is a stud! He tells it like it is, and the facts call themselves. He may vocalize when he agrees (or disagrees) with a particular author, but it has never interfered with the classroom experience. Quite the opposite. He brings clarity to the subjects, and exerts every possible effort to make sure you understand.
