Eglal is the HBIC of the French department. Incredibly knowledgeable and uses class time very efficiently. Class flies by because she makes the subject very interesting. Expects a lot out of her students. By far the best professor I've had at Smith.

As a French major, I've taken a lot of classes in the French department with different professors but Professor Doss-Quinby is by far the most charismatic, helpful, and knowledgeable. She expects high quality work from her students but she is a realistic professor who understands that students have to study for other classes as well.

Eglal was my advisor when I was an undergraduate and was absolutely wonderful. She's fiercely intelligent and knowledgeable of her subject matter, demanding of high-quality work, but supportive about actually getting that work done.

Eglal is so classy! She is such a good teacher, you never feel like you're wasting a moment of class time. She's also a really tough grader... but getting a B is more than compensated by all the things I've learned.

Also FRN 385, 480 and a comparative literature class. Professor Doss-Quinby radiates elegance and passion. She is the embodiment of what it means to be a Lady and a professor of supreme intellect. I'd take any class with her in a heartbeat.
