GREAT professor!! He is VERY kind and SO knowledgeable. Put in the EFFORT, study HARD, and take GOOD notes and you will get an A. I took him for Human Survival -- don't worry about the book or readings -- EVERYTHING on the tests are from the LECTURE NOTES. Deadlines are basically nonexistent. No HW. Two outlines. Two tests. One final paper. TAKE!!

Dr. Gilbert is fantastic. I had him for Environment and Human survival. He is very clear, helpful. and sometimes he brings things to class for show and tell!. I highly recommend this class or him. 2 outlines, 1 midterm, 1 final paper, 1 final. You have to work hard for your grade but the A is worth it at the end. I learnt a lot!!

Allan Gilbert is great. I have no previous exposure to Archeology and his lectures fascilitated everything. So brilliant this man, and his jokes and quirk are adorable.

I have taken over five of this mans courses and absolutely love him. He is definitely one of the smartest people I have ever met, but sometimes all of his knowledge can get him side tracked during lecture. Not the most entertaining class, but he will do anything he can to help, VERY LENIENT (almost non-existent) deadlines, great grader, great man

The most knowledgable person on the Fordham Campus: Interesting lectures and lenient deadlines. You have to put the work in though with good paper topics and study well for the tests. He is always willing to help his students to get the best topics/info for the two papers. Great class taught with genuine interest in the topics.

Gilbert is the dean of Anthro. He is a good teacher. He's extremely lenient with assignment, many times giving students up to an extra month to complete a paper. No homework, just 1-3 long papers (bout 8-10 pages) final and midterm. Def recommended

Hilarious/wonderful. I'm not so good with deadlines and he gave me a week after the final to finish my paper and would have given me longer if I wanted. I love this man. If you're okay with somewhat dry material and a bit of work on your own you'll enjoy this course.

Very few grades, unclear about the expected content of papers, making it difficult to determine what he wants. All lecturing, funny, but can get boring, especially at 8:30 AM.

most intelligent man at fordham. he knows everything from science to history. no doubt about it, he is smart. however, his class is interesting only if you're interested in it. he is a hard professor (not very hard, but hard). don't expect an easy A, you won't get one. but, as i said, he's wonderful to listen to, because he knows so much.

Take him if you can. He always teaches mad early, but doesn't care about attendance. He will help you in any way he can. He is what college is supposed to eb about. His tests are kinda hard, but not if you do the reading. I wish he taught later and at LC.

Prof Gilbert is the man! He counts your best test/paper score twice, so if you do bad on one, don't worry. Great sense of humor & great source of advice outside class. Also, only had one lab the entire semester.
