There are very few items for the class so prepare for each assignment to count for a substantial portion of your final grade. He encourages independent work and provides few strict guidelines outside of attendance. This class forced me to work on my own which is exactly what I needed.

You will constantly be second guessing what he expects from you as he changes instructions for assignments throughout the semester. Provides no clear grading methods; rubrics are practically non existent. He doesn't even expect you to pass the exams which makes sense as they are not consistent with the class material.

I've really struggled in this class. I do the readings/assignments and I'm honestly not even sure what the class is about. What we read and what he lectures and tests on are two completely different things. So many people failed the midterm that he made 30's and 40's C's, so that's kind of nice, but I would've rather not failed.

Very rude professor. Very unclear about what he wants. Claims you can reach out to him for help/feedback but is EXTREMELY condescending and unhelpful when you do. Begins class with "GSU students never do the readings". Impossible quizzes. Rambles about things that do not pertain to the readings. Do not take his class.

Professor Carey is nice and very smart; unfortunately, he's not the best lecturer and his class will leave you dazed/confused. He has a moot court project that's rough because you're not sure what he wants from it. I cried during a virtual meeting with him because his what he wanted wasn't clear and there were only 3 days left until the due date.

Comment:
Dr. Carey is very passionate about what he teaches. However, he is very condescending to his students, the structure of his class is VERY disorganized, and he is VERY unclear about his grading. He bashes students for not doing the readings when his lectures often do not correlate to them. His quizzes are terribly worded but 60% of your grade.

His tests are exceptionally difficult, but they are curved. I would not take it again. Lectures, but more like rambles. Very interesting though, he keeps up with the news. He's very compassionate about what he does. But lots of rambling, laptops allowed.

Lectures aren't that great but class is mandatory. All assignments are on RealizeIt, relatively easy to complete, just don't try to do them all at once. Extended the deadlines for everything. Tests are online and you have a week to do them (unlimited chances). Final paper is rough but is graded generously.

Quizzes on the lessons were all found online, lectures were useless but had to attend. I just used it as a hw session. Two tests, all questions he made himself. Answers on the notes and lecture recordings. One paper at the end. i dont take regretting. he seems really passionate about teaching, gave extentions to all due dates! beneficial test curve

Very unorganized. Quizzes were practically impossible to do well on but the curve is so drastic you will probably wont get anything lower than a C. The moot courts were the best part but again very disorganized. No instruction really and had to flow on my own. If he sees you doing a lot of work he'll grade in your favor.

Technically if you come to class and make an effort, your grade might be curved if you have shown improvement. Some lectures can be difficult to follow sometimes. There are no tests only weekly quizzes and a moot court at the end of the semester

This teacher rambles a lot. 14 quizzes instead of final. Moot court project and 30 page paper. Will not retain much information. Quiz questions are not in book and hard to google; quiz usually take about 2 hours to complete due to complex questions and typos. Just avoid class if you can. Professor does grade quizzes on a curve, you could get lucky

You will not get feedback on quizzes; will never find out which answers were correct or incorrect. The professor has stated verbatim in 2019 that it took 4 students 55 times (yes you read that correctly) to get an A on the quizzes because of that quizzes are no longer unlimited, Quizzes graded on a curve, 14 each. No finals quizzes worth 60%

The tests are impossible but they're curved so you can't fail. Most answers are in the posted class notes and audio recordings. The lectures are over everyone's heads and I honestly didn't learn a thing. You don't have to honestly. I wouldn't recommend this course, but if you turn your stuff in you can survive it. One paper at the end of semester.

Two impossible tests and one paper. His syllabus makes no sense. By far the worst professor I've had in three years of college.

His tests are impossible. He rambles on and is disrespectful to students. He honestly wishes he was teaching a grad class at Harvard, but is at GSU and takes it out on his students. Avoid at all costs.

Don't take him. Like if your life depended on it, don't. He's pretentious and unclear about his assignments (i.e. his TA doesn't even know what's going on). You have 2 tests and a paper.

His lectures are very disorganized and I can't tell if he is teaching or just sharing his opinions. If a student attempts to give their opinion in class, he cuts them off and will immediately disregard what they said. His tests are online, but would take me an absurd amount of time to complete. Do not take his class.
