Great professor! Gives good feedback on every assignment you do and is available to help if you need extra help. This class really helped me improve on my writing skills. I would definitely recommend Professor Schneider!

Comment:

There was a lot of reading for this class, and I had to re-read things sometimes. I learned a lot and it was interesting, but this class is probably better to take in person because some of the concepts are hard to grasp. His lecture videos were very helpful, and as long as you work at it every day, you shouldn't have a problem.

Comment:

I took this class for a general credit thinking it would be interesting and low key. Instruction was often unclear and ambiguous, leading to a lower grade. I think this class would be better if taken in person. I wouldn't recommend anyone to take it online with this prof.

James was super chill, he was very open to talking to me about my personal views, on world religions, and he would give good feedback on essays. If you miss class theres a lot you miss. My class was a linked class with English 101, so it was a 2 and a half hour class, so if you were gone, you were screwed.

James made a 2-hour class into something to actually be excited for! He's very passionate in his lectures and gives fantastic study guides. The quizzes are easy and you could really manage to pass without reading and just taking notes.

I took James' HUM140 class and really enjoyed it. He knows what he's talking about and is passionate about it. On top of this, he's just a really cool dude. He's funny, smart and interesting. This class isn't hard, but you do need to participate. Study for finals and come prepared, if you miss a few days it won't kill you. Easy A if you're engaged.

Schneider was a very good speaker and allowed everyones voices to be heard. He is an easy grader and brings in some speakers that teach a lot of stuff that is useful for the quizzes

Attendance wasn't mandatory but you would miss out key information if you skipped. A lot of reading, and it was a bit boring too, depends on which religion you're the most interested in. Funny dude, easy grader. Just do your work and participate and you'll be fine!

James was a really great teacher. He prepare us for everything that he wanted us to do. I wouldn't recommend this class if you don't like to read though. His readings were hard. But i liked them. They all had meaning, and were great reads.

He was philosophy major. Red flag for those who don't want to read, or those who don't want to read confusing things. If you've been to a university (especially Evergreen) or are just intelligent, he'll target you and ask your opinion on all subjects. Not necessarily a bad thing, just know you'll always be on the spot.

Lectures are boring and hard to follow. Directions are vague and confusing. Changes assignments after you've already completed them. Rarely gives full credit. Schedule is not posted in advance making it impossible to plan ahead. I'm an honor's student and feel this class is unnecessarily difficult for a pre-req humanities class.

Terrible class. He expected you to basically spend 30 hours a week completely his extremely concerning work, it seemed as if he was using you for busy work. Who needs to do 16 song analysis, before you get the point? Completely useless. Do not take the class if you work or are taking another class.

James did a good job of covering all of the material on the test. Though not the best at controlling conversation when we needed to move on, he fostered an environment that felt inclusive. Be sure to take tons of good notes! There will be lots of confusing reading but hang in there!

I started out really liking this class. I was excited to learn everything I could about sacred texts and how they were viewed. By the end of this class I realize that he's a very misogynist person. Not much teaching was involved. More discussion driven and good luck getting heard if you're a woman! Extremely disappointed!

In the beginning I liked him, but by the end of the class Im not a fan. He is very opiniated & pushy about letting us know it. He said he would respect peoples opinions, but ended up not really. Not a fan, and will not be taking another class from him unless I have to. Very helpful with essays though, even if I didn't like him in class.

I really liked this teacher. You could tell he was really interested in his students doing well. He was prompt with his responses and you never felt uncomfortable asking questions. The class was not a cake walk but it was not extremely difficult. I thought he did a great job.

Take time to get to know him, I honestly believed James hated me at first. It wasn't until I really applied myself in his class that I earned his respect and ultimately understood him as a professor. He is very abstract in his thoughts and wants you to be as well,if like me that style of thought is new to you be prepared but in the end worth it
