Class consisted of 6 exams. If you study lecture notes youll do fine on the tests. If youve already taken 415 you will know how the tests are. Dr. Hall is sarcastic and has a funny personality. Hes a nice guy if you do what you need to do.

Comment:

Great professor and the lectures are entertaining. The tests are 50 questions and only have A B and C answer choices. The grading scale is a points system and leaves minimal room for error. Very impressive if you can get an A in this class, but if you put forth effort, you should get a B.

SUCH AN EASY A!! makes u work in groups of 2 & u share a sheep brain. required to buy the online ebrain BUT u can share the subscription w/ ur partner so u don't have to both pay!!! super easy dissection reports due every few weeks. always done w class within the first 20 min. he comes in the begining 5 min & then leaves us alone in class. SO easy!

Comment:

Dr. Hall has made my experience in general physiology (BCMB 440) a great experience. He is very funny, his lectures were never boring and his exams were reasonable. He would give clicker questions every day so attendance is mandatory for those points. It is extremely hard to get anything lower than a C in this class if you put in effort.

I really enjoyed Dr. Hall's section of 415. His ppts were very detailed and his lectures were entertaining. Tests covered what is on the ppts so I didnt use the book in his section, but I def did in Prosser's section. Great professor and person and willing to help. Definitely a difficult class but manageable with some effort

Easiest BCMB class you will ever take. Two very easy assignments, and a final presentation that doesn't take long (easy to do). Little to no homework; just sit and listen to Dr. H preach. This class is your reward for taking 415. Dr. Hall talks about a lot of broad neural stuff, so very interesting class overall. Would 100% recommend!!!

His lectures are entertaining. Reading the book is not as important as attending class. His exams are mainly driven by his lectures and although they include multiple choice and fill in the blank, they can be fairly difficult and require a through understanding of the material.

Dr. Hall is great. His slides are so clear and he makes it totally clear what he expects of you. His exams are all multiple choice (only A B C) but he puts in some tricky questions. Averaged high 80s on them. Overall he was a really solid choice. Also very quick in replying to emails. Syllabus says there may be extra credit, but don't expect any

In 440 and 415, he's hilarious, brilliant, and explains material very clearly. 440- All MC exams and from powerpoints and easy. In 415, exams also from powerpoints, but include MC and free response-like questions; uniquely difficult. For both, PAY ATTENTION to what he says to understand the powerpoints, and you should be good for exams. Great guy!!

Dr. Hall is hilarious and knows his stuff. However, he knows it so well that he goes very fast and just touches the surface on some topics. I never really read the text unless I truly did not understand something, but I think it would have been helpful. He gave 15 pts extra credit, but it only applied to clicker pts. Uniquely hard exams.

He is NOT up front about the difficulty of his tests. He told us his exams were easier than the teacher's who co-taught with him - but his averages were lower... Also, this class no longer offers much extra credit. Max of 2% of final grade. He's snide and not amusing but clearly thinks he should be a comedian. Makes it near impossible to get an A.

I would recommend Dr. Hall for any class. He is the best professor I've met my entire college career, and he is always willing to help. Tests are tough, but he will be honest with you about it.

Co-taught with Prosser (who gave tons of extra credit), but if he was teaching on his own, I don't think he would give extra credit. Test are semi-difficult because there are a lot of short answer questions with no word bank. Over all, really enjoyed the class. Need to go to class for clicker questions, but posts detailed powerpoints online.

Dr Hall is awesome. He loves what he does, and it shows during his lectures, as they are quite interesting. Additionally, he makes sure to be available to students outside of class time and is very helpful in answering any questions.

I don't understand the poor rating for Dr. Hall. He is very helpful, very clear, and his exams are more than reasonable. If you have the opportunity to have him as a professor, you should do it! Good Bio professors can be hard to come by.

Loved how he brought in animals and brains in from his lab for a more hands-on approach to the class. Made it more interesting than a lot of my other BCMB classes!
