Comment:
I have talked to over 6 other students in this class and we are all waving our white flags to surrender. We have tried reaching out for help, but Tuske is too smart to teach us. It sounds as if it's a foreign language. I can't understand. He never talks about what we are supposed to be reading so I never read. I Google because I won't pass if not.

Professor Tuske is a good professor since he makes the lectures pretty interesting and is very clear on expectations. As long as you attend the class and read the textbook you will do great

Dr. Tuske is a very intelligent man. I have taken multiple classes with him, all of which were how philosophy classes normally are- attendance and participation based with a handful of papers and a lot of reading. If don't like philosophy you will struggle with the readings but his lecture style encourages you to do the thinking if you hadn't read.

Dr. Tuske teaches undergraduate students at a graduate level which for some is just too much. He has high expectations and if you don't intend to spend the time and effort to really grasp the ideas and concepts discussed in his courses you will not do well. I've taken him more than once and he is always willing to help when asked.

Comment:
He's very unclear. It's impossible to know what he exactly expects. It seems like throughout the semester he changes the standards & u don't know what u're supposed to do to get a decent grade. He's also very arrogant. When u ask a question to figure out what he wants, he answers vaguely & condescendingly. Don't recommend him, a very bad teacher.

He does not encourage participation at all. In each and every class meeting he lectures incessantly in a monotonous way. Very boring! When we ask a question, he quickly brushes it aside and keeps talking even more! Do yourself a favor and don't take him. Just don't.

Comment:
Being interested in East Asia, 323 seemed like a great class. Initially it was interesting, but as the semester went on, it got very monotonous. There are constantly writing assignments, and they are a pain to write. The lectures are boring; essentially he talks for over an hour, and that's it. And if not for this class, I would've had straight As.

DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY. He will lower your grade, if you disagree with him. Even though you write a good quality paper, still he will punish you for defending a different view. This guy is sick! He supposedly teaches philosophy but cannot handle philosophical discussion! Incredible! He shouldn't be allowed to teach!

I'm not sure if he regularly teaches this class, but I took him for an honors course about eastern philosophy. He is very narrow minded, and shot down ideas other than his own. He gave me a C for missing classes due to a family tragedy he was made aware of, even though I got A's on every paper. He's a callous person and I would NOT recommend him.

Do not take a class with Dr. Tuske unless you are willing to work hard. He is not an easy A, but come on now, you folks are in college. Dr. Tuske offers great depth of understanding in the topics of philosophy and is always willing to help students get a better grasp of the topic but you need to be willing to ask questions.

Dr. Tuske is far from boring! He is knowledgable and helpful if you need help. If you participate in the lectures it is very interesting. He respects your opinion but he also wants you to challenge yourself. He is a fair grader and is very strict about attendance so if you skip class a lot expect to fail. I will definitly take him again.

Incredibly dry class, very picky grader and overly reserved. Is decent enough as a person, but occasionally arrogant. Be prepared to endure the most boring lecture of your life when attending his class.

He is a really nice guy but he is definately very narrow minded even though he seems to be objective. Though 103 wasn't a religion class so gladly I didn't have to write about it because we would have conflicted. Overall, average but ok for PHIL 103 or 101 too probably.

Most of the comments on here clearly indicate that the individuals did not grasp the concept of philosophy. Tuske was great and I had an excellent time in his class and yes, I am a religious carnivore and I still got an A. You have to understand it is all about comprehending the rationale and reasoning behind things. You must challenge your beliefs

Great teacher, he keeps things interesting and is quite a character. Didn't think I'd find the class too interesting and the textbook was death but he made the class interesting and ended up liking the lectures. Great Philosophy teacher

This is my second class with him. Both were about Asian Philosophy. I am only rating him again because it seems that alot of people who believe in god are whining about their grades. You can believe in God and get a good grade but you need to be open minded also.

Asian Philosophy is not an easy subject but it is a very interesting one. I felt I learned more in this class than in any other class I've taken at salisbury. He's not a harsh grader but you must go above and beyond to get an A. I was almost there.

asian phil is confusing, many detailes, keep track of overall picture. 5(2 page commentaries) and 2 formal papers, no tests. don't postpone readings, they are challenging. Losing your sanity is easy...getting high before class might help understanding him.
