The hardest class I've ever taken. And one of the best and most interesting. I've never needed to ask more questions than I did in this class, but Prof. Jannone is always online and available. Be prepared to put in TIME.

If you don't know much about operating complex software's don't even bother taking this class he is a very caring professor but the workload has become unbearable over the semester be prepared to ask a lot of questions if not you won't do well In this class. He is passionate about what he does but his work is incredibly difficult.

Comment:

Really intense and challenging, but John provides lots of help and support. If you want to work hard and learn, this is a great class and great prof. All the course material is on YouTube so you don't need to keep up in a lecture, you can work at your own pace. Also it's partially on-line so you don't need to come every week.

Very laid back class. He cares about his students and goes at their pace. Helps a lot in class and encourages office hours visits as well. You can get up and leave class to get food or do anything as long as your work gets done in the end. Interesting projects and an overall great guy that likes to get to know his students and help a lot.

Comment:

Great individual, great professor! I was able to think outside the box both in terms of the many projects and also about life. Two scene analyses, written midterm based on the textbook, final exam was a storyboard project. The first few weeks were dedicated to Zettl's Sight, Sound, Motion textbook. Class met once a week, quiz every week. Take him!

He wasn't really clear about the projects, he would spend a lot of time talking about things that didn't have anything to do with the subject. Made us do a lot of presentations. I'd stay away, cool guy though

I thought John really knew his stuff when it came to Max/MSP. I also thought he did a good job of teaching it. I'm sure it was hard because everyone in the class was at different levels. There was only one situation that could have been handled better, but overall, I would recommend him as a teacher.

Class = 2-semester workshop made up of cross-disciplinary artists working as an ensemble creating collaborative work at a grad level. as such it was intense but rewarding. john provided guidance but generally let us blaze our own way. it was great when he gave criticism bc its hard to speak up around peers when no one knows more than any other

John is a tech genius and a cool guy, ready to help but lets his students work on tv production, as they should. Generally gives good feedback but could be more specific; as students we crave constructive criticism and need it. JJ is the best and allowed use of his own equipment to do HDTV, which was just great. A Winner First Class!

JJ lets his students solve problems they face by themselves, which is extremely important for learning skills, however during a proccess of solving you sometimes miss his support and encouradgement. If you need his advice or support, do not be shy to ask!

Jannone is a weird guy but pretty cool. If you're into TV, this class is amazing. Fun and challenging projects. Dont know about other terms, but we had no tests or textbooks, only 3-4 projects. If u buy his theories and understand them, and apply them it's an A. If you're not into Video and/or Sound in TV..this is a hard class

Cool guy, but the class wasn't too easy because of the reading material. He did clarify it though and used it to encourage independent thinking, as well thinking beyond the scope. Read, don't be afraid to ask, and write simply but with clarity. You learn a lot without realizing it and the hard work pays off. I got an A.

I'd first taken a television production course with him. He taught very well and enticed his students to learn as much as they could, but I felt he had his favorites in that class. When I took the MAX/MSP course with him, he was and is still very helpful and had patience with me- the only undergrad with no formal music training in the class.

I liked janone but I felt he wanted us to know everything by the second week. He was helpful but was impatient with some of the students who didn't catch on quickly. Lost his temper a couple of times but was a good professor.

Professor Jannone is probably one of the best professors I have had at BC. He really shows an interest in the subject and he wants you to understand and feel comfortable while learning. He is dedicated to his students and is very understanding. Awesome Prof!!! would definately recommend him for tv/r classes!!!
