I learned so much from Professor Peters class. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter. He is undeniably approachable and always willing to take the time before or after class to answer any questions. My writing improved under his guidance. I really enjoyed his class!!!

Yeah, it's an easy "A," but it's also not worth your time. The man is a joke. Truly. He doesn't even know what class he's in half the time. He lost midterms, and changed the date of the text 5+ times. He's monotone and mumbles. Stay away if you want to learn ANYTHING; otherwise, he's your guy for an easy "A."

The syllabus claims you have to come to class, but I only showed up during the reviews and for a handful of lectures and received an A. I recommend him if you already know how to write an essay, but just need to fill another English requirement. He's funny, monosyllabic, and digresses into interesting points.

Dr. Peters is a breeze. I agree, do NOT take him for a lower division writing class. His true expertise is in Lit. He's brilliant! He's extremely easy going and makes it almost impossible to get lower than an A. Dr. Peters is SO sweet and nice. He does take attendance and its basically one of 3 things that make your grade. EASY!

Under normal circumstances, I would recommend Dr. Peters in a heart beat for an easy semester! However, there are a couple reasons why you should avoid Peters for lower division writing. While he will improve your grammar with his handouts, they hardly help you with the essays you submit to the committee. So while Dr. Peter's generously hands out A's, your grade might fall a bit because of the other readers. Dr. Peters might be the most nicest, funniest, coolest, most compelling instructor ever, but I would avoid him until you reach upper division!

John Peters is an interesting individual; his lectures are rarely on topic and he has the habit of going off on tangents regularly, yet he manages to be strangely compelling if you can stay focused. Class is ridiculously easy, only read 2 of the 6 books and still got an A. Only one paper due the final period and one midterm.

wow... all I have to say is that this class (with this professor) is a total waste of time. Take it with someone else, especially if you are an english major.

He never ever responds to emails and has a boring monotone and painfully quiet voice. He gives out the questions that will be on the blue book tests so you could pretty much write out the answers in the blue book at home and turn it in. What a great way to cheat for those who are cheaters. Always lets class out early about 30 min. early.

His voice is very monotone and quiet. It is extremely difficult to understand what he is saying most of the times, unless you sit in the front row. Teachers are suppose to have a loud, clear voice to project. I've had my fare share of not so good instructors at CSUN. Glad I won't be returning next semester...horrible school!!!

The post down four from 12/4/07 is dead on. This class so easy and so seemingly pointless, that you shouldnt want to go to it, but for some reason you feel compelled to go. Only work is take home midterm and 2 papers, will only need a few of the books. For a fun activity in class, keep a tally of how many times he says "digress" every day.

This professor is very much so a waste of time. His lectures are useless and boring. He is boring, his voice is very difficult to hear since hes very monotone and its an easy A. I mean the class was so boring not worth it though.

I was honestly excited about this class until I attended it. he is severely tangential, I didn't read any of the material, his lectures are boring and his voice is monotone and quiet. Attendance counts. I really got nothing out of this class and I am an Eng major. He's an easy grader, but honestly, its not even worth the easy grade.

By far the easiest professor I've ever had. The grade is entirely made up of a take-home midterm, a 600-1200 response paper, and an in class final for which you are given the questions ahead of time (he calls it a study guide, but they don't change on the test day).

Dry as a bone, painfully eccentric, utterly tangential, and... yet... oddly... fascinating. Make no mistake. Peters IS the lesson.

Dr. Peters has a very droning tone of voice which makes staying focused in class very difficult. Despite his lack of pizazz, he grades paperwork and exams VERY generously. There are 2 midterms, a "term paper" (between 3-6 pages,) and a final exam.

gives out study guides, grades generously. very difficult to listen to his lectures, though no real fault of his own. If you need a class he teaches, he is almost definitely your best option across the board.

Very easy class. I didnt read at all, just attend class and take notes. He gave a study guide that is exactly like the test. Very nice guy...class can get boring though because he has a monotone voice.

First of all..very boring, he talks like the guy from the clear eyes commercial.. monotone, no eye contact.. yeah.. Very easy if you do what you have to, mostly it's on your own so no big deal. Do the essays for the portfolio, pass, GET OUT OF THERE! Then finally move on with your life.
