Great Professor! Had him this past semester and he really knows what he is teaching. Hands down best professor to have for BDAUU - if you spend the time to learn the material (and not just copy homework from your friends), then you'll be very well prepared for the exams. He is also a very lenient grader and gives back alot of points. Take him!!

Comment:

Prof. Eckstein is very good at teaching. He can state every point clearly and he is always willing to offer help. Exams and homework are not difficult as long as you attend the class.

Homeworks are weekly but he goes over multiple examples and variations of the homeworks in class before the homework is due. Practice every problem he goes over in class and all the exam practice problems again before an exam and you will definitely do well! Hes also very helpful during office hours when you do not understand something.

HW was weekly, and way more difficult than exams, which were open book. HW got irritating to do, but he drops lowest, plus exams are easy.

He's a great teacher. But his exams are tough. My friends in other professors got A's without doing much work. He has HW every week which can be very time consuming. Idt spending so much time on this class, especially if your not a BAIT major, makes any sense. Take it from the guy who interned at Wall St, this class is no use. More excel needed

Best Professor EVER! The first professor I met that reply student emails in night and over weekend! Always respect and willing to help his students. If other professors are like him, I'm sure I'll do very well in terms of GPA

Eckstein is one of the best professors I have had at RBS - he is so helpful and so passionate about what he teaches! Go to office hours and get to know the man, he wants to help you get the A! He helps you with your hw AND he has an undergrad degree from Harvard PLUS a Masters and PhD from MIT! Could potentially use as a reference in the future!

his lectures are clear but the subject is boring/confusing at times. notes will be posted. 2 midterms 1 final and hw (he drops your lowest). attendance is mandatory it is a % of your participation. his exams i thought were extremely hard. SQL and database design and calculations all done by hand for exams.

Awesome professor, he walked the class through the problems, and no surprises on the exams. Homeworks were sometimes tough, but lowest one is dropped. No attendance, but you should go to understand the material. Overall a great guy.

Take MIS with Eckstein. Eckstein is great, he's pretty clear when he's teaching (even though the subject isn't always the most interesting) and you'll know exactly what to expect on his exams. He's the best professor teaching this course, great guy in my opinion

Eckstein is very passionate and knows his stuff. If you pay attention and take notes, you will do very well. You dont HAVE to take notes b/c he posts them online, but if you dont you likely wont pay attention, and then you will suffer. Also take advantage of his office hours- he is glad to help on hw. Exams arent terrible.

Yes Professor Eckstein IS a nice guy, but teaching-wise he is horrible. I learned almost nothing and had trouble, luckily I got by with a very low B BUT that was with studying constantly. Overall, MIS IS a tough classes but I learned from my friends who had Sklar. Eckstein is a nice guy but you won't learn anything and may have a lot of difficulty.

MIS was a difficult class. Keep up with your work and DO THE HOMEWORK. If you go to class, he likes you more and will help you out. If you don't, you will save a lot of time and likely not fall asleep in class, and still do well. He's a good guy, just study for your tests a LOT because they are very challenging. Curve at the end is small but helped

Overall nice guy. Very knowledgeable on the subject, he literally wrote the textbook. Fair grader and very helpful. OPS is not an easy class but I sat in on his class instead of going to my own section because hes the best teacher. overall, ops is a sucky class, but hes a good professor.

Amazing teacher. The class is one of the easiest in the business school. The people below who said MIS is hard should not be in the business school because eckstein makes this class soo easy. He isa a great guy and kind of funny

Material hard, but prof. explains material clearly. Tests a lot of problems & some multiple choice. Problems can be confusing if you don't understand so get help. Small mistakes can lower grade on tests & homework substantially.

Comment:

Great guy - so smart, and wonderfully patient. Not easy material, but he's so clear when he teaches that it's hard not to understand. Go to class - it does matter! The TA will give you the answers to the HW, but go to Eckstein to really work through the material. You'll be rewarded on the exams. Don't buy the Access book, you don't need it.
