There was no talk about how to better your writing. She talked more about what's going on in the world than what was to be done about our papers. I would not recommend this class if you need to your last writing class.

Only people who complained about this class were people expecting easy grades. If you came to university to learn something, then Dr. MacDonald is perfect. Do the work. Yes its a lot, but this is college, not high school. Grow up.

I honestly don't know what everyone is complaining about. Dr. MacDonald is a hoot. Yes she requires a lot, but she knows her material very very well. She accepts late papers and makeup tests despite what her syllabus says. Ask her for help, and she will give it. If you read the assigned work, you will pass. Period.

Doesn't use blackboard, fired/cursed at our SI in front of the class, hands graded papers of your to other people (if you aren't there), assignments aren't listed in syllabus, very vague with expectations. Asks completely obscure questions concerning the tests and quizzes (that aren't on syllabus). Not a good "core" class to knock out.

She demands way too much. You better study and read closely... She also favors certain writing styles over others and expects you to word things her way. You have to know specific dates, and every obscure detail. It's ridiculous. My upper level lit classes were never this hard.

Comment:
If you like engaging in obscure classroom discussions, this class is for you. If you don't like to talk much, stay far away from this class. Tests are VERY obscure and detailed based. Only saving grace on tests was the fact that she reuses test questions from old exams (If you take this class, FIND PEOPLE THAT HAVE TAKEN IT BEFORE!).

Expects you to remember obscure things and reads to you in class. Too little discussion of literature and its meaning.

I didn't like her as a person very much. She shows her opinions too much in her lectures, and it really hindered me from forming my own views. She likes to throw tricky things on the exams, but she usually ends up dropping some of the essay questions, so it evens out. She's incredibly smart but I just didn't personally like her style.

she was by far one of my favorite teachers i have ever had! She is amazingly nice as long as you actually pay attention in her class. If you didn't like her then that means you were just an idiot not doing what you were supposed to be doing

I really disliked this class and this professor. She is brilliant and knows what she's talking about but she wasn't nice at all. Avoid taking her at all costs.

The material isn't the most exciting material, but she made it so very interesting and i loved every minute of her class. The tests are easy if you read and understand. She goes over the stories and what you need to know so the tests are pretty easy if you pay attention. take her, she'll make you appreciate literature more than ever.

Overall very nice person/teacher. Not so cool class. Will help you if you ask. Grading is EXTREMELY difficult. Tests= vocab, dates, open ended questions that had to be very thorough. Attendance required. Was too much reading for me...Sometimes up to 70pgs, but the stories we did read were interesting and made me think.

Dr. MacDonald is brilliant and knows her subject very well, but her lectures are a bit hard to follow. There is A LOT of reading involved, but her exams are simple and she tells you what will be on them. She is an easy grader on papers, but she expects very good writing at the same time. Her class is not an easy A so make sure you do the work!

i had dr. mcdonald for classical lit and i thoroughly enjoyed the class. though she isnt the best teacher (she tends to go on rants and quote some inaccurate stats. she also tends to talk about her work excessively) she does know the material and teaches you how to appreciate it. take her if you wanna read some good books

She's a good teacher, and she knows her stuff. However, I think she brought her own political opinions into the class WAY too much. The class is not an easy A at all, but you'll be able to pull it off if you do all of the reading (which is a lot) and study for the tests.

This class was horrible! I took Dr. MacDonald for Classical Lit and it was a nightmare. I am an english maor, but she has completely made me rethink my major! She piles on assigned reading and is WAY hard with her grading on papers, and doesnt give you an explanation as to why she graded you the way she did. RUN! DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!

Tests were bluebook, and for the most part she's obvious about what she wants you to know, but the studying is work, as it should be! As a teacher I did not enjoy this class by any means, her history and crime statistics were way off and she told the class private information about other students while they were out of class! Don't take her.

Dr. MacDonald is very knowledgable in her field, but her field alone. She went on rants about domestic violence of which none were true by any means. Her crime statistics and history were way off and made her look foolish. She didn't find a student's privacy important and told the clas what why a student would be dropped I recommend no one take her

If you're thinking college is not for you, you'll KNOW it's not for you after taking this class. Her class was great if you put in the time and effort to do all the reading. She is very strict but in a good way, I don't about you but I don't tons of money a year to be babied and half-learn everything presented in my classes.
