Comment:
She goes very quickly during lectures which makes it hard to really digest and understand the material. Be prepared to study a ton for exams (four unit exams and three parts to final). There is lots of homework and almost always multiple time-consuming things. She can be confusing and unclear about what she's expecting for assignments like labs.

Many assignments due the same day, homework due each day (3-4 questions), exam questions worded differently than what you will see in lecture, ACS exam as final; lab practical and final (2 parts), but you will be allowed to use lab notebook as aid. Some extra credit opportunities. Overall good prof, only critique is that lectures can be confusing.

Worst experience. I have gotten A's in my previous chem classes, not in hers tho. She is a very inconsistent grader and is not approachable. YouTube was a better teacher than her.

She is the best professor I have ever had. She is caring and understanding. Her lectures are clear and concise. She has a great understanding of chemistry and could answer anything I asked her.

Avoid at all costs. She is a very inconsistent grader. I worked hard, I went to tutoring, asked her questions, went to office hours, just not worth the stress when there are better professors. But if you must take her, YouTube will be more help than she is.

Hard class, good teacher. Prepares you for the tests. Tests are difficult and long, but there is plenty of study material. Do all of the homework, and study for each quiz. Keep up with the material before and after class. She consistently sends emails about when things are due. She cares about your success, it is not an easy A.

Chem 111 w/ Prof. Pickham was VERY HARD. Lectures were fast. Tests were tough. Every week, expect quiz, pre-lab report, & homework. Be ready to work & STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! Prof. Pickham: knowledgeable & willing to answer q's. Average quiz for class : 5-6/10 & average tests: 50-60/100. No extra credit. Drops 1 test, quiz, & formal report.

She's a nice person, cares about you, and her lectures are clear enough. Chemistry is a hard course no matter what, so be prepared to actually study and do homework. She drops a lot of things (quizzes, one test, homework) and offers extra credit. She also sends out emails reminding students of what is due which is nice.

I found the book much more helpful. She was very confusing and went really fast in lecture.. Messed up my grades and had to correct it several times. Offers some extra credit and you get to drop a lot of assignments. Not very willing to help, seek help elsewhere. I'm a near straight A student but I think I'll probably get a C in her class

4 tests + final, 10+ quizes, online hw (drops 1 lowest from each), 2 formal reports. Tests are a bit different from hw, and lecture. Borderline confusing lectures. Tough grading on labs. PLEASE DO HW! Little extra credit opportunity. She is a better prof compared to Yeager, but still... I heard good things about Abbas. Get plenty of tutoring.

DO NOT TAKE AS A FIRST YEAR CHEM STUDENT. Very intelligent woman who understands the subject very well, however, her lectures are geared towards students who already have an understanding of chem and not beginners. You will likely end up teaching yourself on Youtube. Hard tests even after hours of study.

I just started this summer and it has been a week. This is my impression of her so far, but if anything changes, I will re-rate her. I personally give her a 4 because she really wants to help the students, BUT only if you ask questions during the activities or beforeafter class.

she tells you what she wants and is a VERY tough grader, if it is not only what she wants but also how she wants it worded you will lose half your points. She is nice enough, but often when you ask for help she tells you to go back and reread the book. she offers difficult extra credit EVERY test and if you get it you'll likely get a good grade

She really knows what shes talking about, but sometimes has a hard time explaining concepts to students, if you are someone who does not understand new concepts quickly you will have to work really hard in her class. In my opinion, there was way too many assignments for too few points, a lot of busy work.

Pickham's class was very challenging. She was unclear in lecture and often switched back and forth between what an answer was or how to do a problem, which made lecture very confusing. One on one she was also confusing. She wanted you to learn for yourself, but how she went about teaching, did not facilitate understanding.

This class is not an easy A, but it is fair. Prof. Pickham does an excellent job teaching only what you need to know. The material in lectures = material on the test. Her lab grading is only strict compared to other MCC professors. If you're planning on taking science at a UC, learn from her critiques. It will serve you well in upper div classes.

Professor Pickham is very smart but is not clear in her lectures. Her tests are very hard and labs are not worth the amount of points equivalent to the amount of work that is put in. She is inconsistent with grading and often makes mistakes in calculations. Her exams seem like not much work has been put into them because there are many errors.

Great Teacher. Questions are a must if you don't understand a concept. She teaches using practice problems and lectures which are great for visual learners and she teaches everything needed to get a good grade on her exams. The homework problems that are assigned are way harder than what she puts on the exams. Overall, a wonderful teacher.
