Comment:

Not a very good teacher overall. Grades rely heavily on tests she doesn't give you good study material for and 2 ten page papers are way too long for the amount of material given.

Comment:

Easy class. Only 4 papers all semester. Participation is important but all you have to do to get participation points is talk once in a while. She doesn't assign much homework outside of the papers. Easy A.

Comment:

I had her for World Lit 1. Participation is a huge factor into your grade, but doesn't let you participate. She is often long winded and if she asks a question, she is looking for a specific answer, not what you think. The tests are all short answer and are very difficult, and its not very clear how she grades it which is the same for the quizzes.

Comment:

I had Dr. Kurz for both World Lit I & II. For both classes she had weekly quizzes, 2 response papers (easy 2 pgs each), 2 analytical papers (8 pgs each), 1 creative project, and the midtermfinal. Dr. Kurz she's a bit unorganized (won't give study guides until night before) but she's an awesome professor. Very theatrical. Gives great feedback!

Kathy Kurz is actually a fantastic lady and teacher. She makes the class engaging and even if you do poorly on tests, it's easy to bring your grade up with papersparticipationquizzes. Interesting grading technique. If you do the readings, participate, and take notes it is absolutely possible to get an A.

Comment:

Make sure that you read ALL of the readings because she will usually has 3-5 question quizzes the following class. She's a huge fan of participation, especially if you're interested in the material. Complete the study guides for the readings and you shouldn't do too poorly overall. I got a 76 and 86 on the midterm/final and still ended w/an A.

STUDY AND COMPLETE THE STUDY GUIDES FOR THE MIDTERM AND FINAL. That is my biggest advice, and besides that the class is fairly manageable. However, it can be confusing as to what's due and expected. Make sure to keep up with the reading.

While Dr. Kurz seems to be a nice person, she is not fit to be a professor in my opinion. She does not tell you your grade except halfway thru the semester. The grading is a bit random as I received an A on a paper I should have got a C and vice-versa. Also we purchase text books we don't use! Take a different teacher!

Dr. Kurz is a great person who knows a lot about the material and wants her students to succeed. However, she doesnt use blueine, is disorganized, and goes off topic and lecture.

One of the most fun core classes I have had at Creighton. She is kooky and wild and a little bit disorganized, but she really does know her stuff. If you're willing to fill in the gaps by reading and participating in class you do fine. Don't take her too seriously, stay on her good side. Take her class and enjoy!

If you are an international students, never take her class!!!. NEVER, EVER. She helps you ONLY IF YOU ASK HER. she is very unorganized. BUT her class is very funny and easy to pay attention. Her midterm and final are extremely hard. If you are good at reading and stuff, may be yes, but if not, Don't take her class.

Kathy is a great person, really funny, and very theatrical. But, the midterm and final (only exams) are very difficult. They are short answer style but there are 30 plus questions and not enough time to complete them. the best midterm grade was a 79%. There are always quizzes when there is new reading, and the questions are VERY specific, do well.

Prof. Kurz is a great person. She's funny and very theatrical. However, I found her to be a very disorganized teacher. When she lectures, she rambles about boring things. She's big on class participation but doesn't really give a lot of opportunites to do that. Her midterm was AWFUL. Basically, to do good on it you have to BE her.

Many people told me to avoid Kurz, but I really enjoyed her and the class! Maybe you don't want to read, but English classes require that, so reading amount shouldn't be a deciding factor. She is incredibly knowledgeable on the subject matter. If you participate, you'll do well!

She is just awful. Her lectures are extremely boring and completely unorganized. She just rambles on and on about one thing and never actually gets anywhere with the discussion. I recommend someone else.

Prof. Kurz isnt as bad as people make her out to be. She gives quizzes over the readings and she gives study guides with them. There are two 6-8 pg papers, two 2 pg response papers, a creative project, a final and midterm. She tells you what she expects and if you do it, you should get a good grade. Shes pretty weird, but I liked her.

Kurz was not my favorite teacher, she is a bit outta her head. She always showed up late and never was very organized. Her lectures seemed like it was just random thoughts she had and she talked in circles. She is quick to skip anything she is not interested in but tends to linger on things she likes. Not super impressed.
