Comment:

She puts a lot of effort into her lectures. If you attend the lectures you will have an easy time with the course. Make sure to do the homework. The book is only needed for a few problems that pop up in the homework, other than that it is useless.

Comment:

Overall, the lecture portion of EPS 1 at Iowa was well organized. Hornbuckle is obviously very intelligent and definitely knows her stuff. When lecturing, however, she would often make mistakes when writing out her notes and working problems. There was a lot of homework, but it was never clear what points were going towards. Work hard.

Comment:

One of the best teachers I've ever had. I had her for natural environmental systems, and loved the class. She is so helpful and approachable. She explains everything very well and is a very fair grader. Yes, the class is hard if you don't study, but if you study and listen to her its not a problem at all. One of the most caring teachers ever.

Comment:

Really strict about homework, not very personable. Most of the class was teaching you common sense (who would've thought what goes into a system=what goes out +accumulation... I never would've known without that class...). If you have common sense, you should fly through EPS1 as long as you do all the tedious work.

If you actually do the homework the class is very easy. The tests test your ability to work under pressure with a limited amount of time. She is not a good prof. Spends too much time on things that aren't important. Tries to trick you. Spends the majority of time trying to convince you the material is worthwhile.

Is very enthusiastic about the subject matter and seems to think this is stuff Engineering use quite often. In reality she doesn't have much "real world" experience (except out at lake Michigan). Her homeworks are vague and tests are terrible. People walk out of her tests very angry. Do the homework and use the book.

This class is such a waste of time. I really don't think it has any relevance to being an engineer. It's funny how she thinks the class is so important too. Not taking this class would be beneficial to anyone. Engineering sucks.

first off, im gonna have to correct those who thinks shes hot. shes not. class is very fast paced, and she is picky about homework. homework format is a pain, and takes VERRRYYY long to complete (i spent around 6 hours on the last assignment). this class doesnt teach a whole lot.

A few years ago, when I was a freshman, I was honestly 3 minutes late to class, and tried to turn in my homework. She put it aside and docked me 50%! A few weeks later I found out that the other section was allowed to turn their homework in at any point in class, and the curve was out of both sections... very unfair
