Dr. S really has a passion for chemistry and it shows in her teaching. She covers the class material thoroughly while making it engaging for all students, no matter how much interest they have in chemistry. She's always willing to work with students in or outside class to makes sure that they have a solid understanding of more difficult concepts.

Comment:

Dr. Smetana is easily the best teacher that I've ever had. She made Chemistry painless. I got very sick mid-semester and lost a lot of class time, labs, and quizzes. She worked with me (happily) and accepted all of my work, while also taking time to check up on me and answer my questions. She is compassionate and understanding which is rare.

I waited to take this class until the last possible semester before applying to Nursing School. I was terrified!!! This class turned out to be my FAVORITE class ever! Dr. S is nothing short of amazing!! She will bend over backwards to help you in every possible way. She treats her students with respect and understand that life is complicated.

Makes her own study guide for this class! Very colorful and for the homework, the questions you got wrong she finds your mistakes and shows you how to do it correctly in a separate sheet of paper. If you want Dr. Smetena make sure you sign up for her class ASAP! They fill up extremely fast. Can not wait to take her again for CHEM112 :)

Dr. S is the best teacher at JTCC. She is always willing to help and explains step by step. She even use different color markers in every step. I absolutely love her. I am very disappointed that she is not teaching CHM 112 ;(

All I can say is Dr. S was an amazing instructure.. She understood that I worked full time and have a family at home and was still very helpful to what I needed. I cant thank Dr. S enough she is the most understanding teacher I have ever had. She is also very thorough when teaching the material, she teaches it step by step and does not move on until everyone is on the same page... I absolutely loved her and you will to if you pick her for chemistry!!!! Thanks Dr. S Samantha

I've known Dr. S ever since I started JTCC. She is simply the best professor at this college. She is willing to do whatever it takes to help you out in class, everything is straightforward just like it should be. The class lectures are so worth coming to and the labs are so realistic and fun! Take her for chemistry! You will not regret it :)

Dr.S is an amazing professor, she explains the material very well and takes the time to explain the harder lessons rather then just skimming by it. Anyone can tell that she loves what she teaches and that is an essential part of being able to teach the material as well as she does. I'm just extremely upset that she isn't teaching CHM 112. :(

Dr. S explains problems step wise. She does not use online homework and grades each problem so you know what you did wrong in time for the quiz. She makes hard topics easier to understand. You have to go to class. If you dont you will get behind.

Good teacher. Gets off topic and distracted easily. Her children are a handful so she's constantly answering her phone during class. She's a good teacher but she's really cocky and her sarcasm can be rude at times. But she's always available if you need help, so speak up if you're confused because you're definitely not the only one confused.

If you have to take Chemistry at JTCC Dr. S is the BEST!! It has been a few years since I've been in her class, but what I learned has stayed with me through JTCC's nursing program and has come in handy more than you would think. I recommend her to anyone and everyone who needs to take chemistry!

If you do not take her class, you are truly only hurting yourself. Dr. S is AMAZING. She truly loves what she does and makes it very clear that she wants nothing more than for you to succeed in her class. It is so easy to get a good grade in her class. By far she is and will always be one of the best teachers that I have ever had.
