Comment:
This professor is the epitome of a good philosophy professor. Yes, there will be reading, but what does one expect? Philosophy as a discipline demands that you read and understand enough to be able to engage in conversation about the topics and Professor Newton expects as much of you as any professor should. Definitely would recommend.

Dr. Newton assigns a fair amount of reading and expects you to really know the material before you come to class. It's challenging, but you definitely learn. He explains everything very clearly in class. I like that his classes are not lecture-style, but are more like discussions. I definitely learned a lot and became more interested in Philosophy.

Bashes on the science professors frequently. I do not appreciate this, as I am a science major. You do not learn in his class, he gives out quizzes over the reading material, but they are not did you read level. Does not teach what the class is about. Done with the class and still don't know the main point of it. Lots of reading, will drop GPA!

Thinks you should be reading at minimum 2 hours a night for his class, his reading speed is not avg. student's. Will then start each class with a write 5 question quiz(if he remembers to think them up) BEFORE he teaches the material. NOT stuff from last class but this one that has not happened yet. Questions are NOT "have u done the reading" type!

One of the worst teachers I've encountered. Makes you read material then hands out a quiz. You don't learn a thing.

He's a nice enough guy, but not as helpful as I'd like to see and I think that the "knowledge gained" to "difficulty of the class" ratio was a little bit off.

I had no interest being a Business Major. I became very interested after taking his class. I'm considering taking Philosophy as my minor now.

At first, i couldn't stand the class. I though it was stupid and irrelevant. But then I realized that I hated it because I wasn't trying. Once I started participating and studying, it got a lot easier and I looked forward to going to class. Great teacher

took him for Log and Nature 1 honors and 2. REALLY interesting. knows what he's talking about, but will actually admit if he doesn't know something. will sometimes appear cocky, but for the most part, he's just trying to make you think. may call on you at random and tests can be difficult.
