I really enjoyed Professor Russell's class. She has you do a lot of writing, but all the assignments are really fun. She has some trouble working with technology and is bad at explaining things multiple ways, but overall I would take another class with her. She is extremely caring and takes a bit to warm up too.

Worst Professor Ever. She preaches not giving busy work, but it's all you do. It's a class on phonics, which would actually be helpful for OAE's and teaching, but nope. You won't learn a thing. On top of it, she's rude, condescending and disrespectful to students. She glared at me and stopped class because I went to the bathroom. So unprofessional

Awful! As an education major, we had to take a phonics course required by the state and university. I have taken her before and although there was a TON of busy work she was relatively easy with grading. That semester, even though it was a phonics course, WE LEARNED NOTHING about phonics - didn't even touch on it! Avoid!!

As a person, she's okay. As a professor, she's honestly one of the worst I've ever had. She doesn't give many assignments, but she also doesn't teach us anything. I have maybe learned 2 or 3 useful things in her class. She can be very condescending, and doesn't post clear directions or assignments. Tended to be unprofessional.

I had to take this class and I hate that I did. Her syllabus did not have any sort of assignment list on it and no matter how much we asked she never gave us one. Then when something was due, since she never put it on canvas, she wouldn't actually tell us. If I could give her a zero I would.

Absolutely love her. Had her for two classes in one semester, so sometimes things would get a little confusing. Actually had her at Cincinnati, she's not at Miami anymore. She isn't that great with online stuff so someone else does her Blackboard now which is nice. She knows what she's talking about and I'm glad I took her. Just do the work

She is a nice person and easy to talk to but can also be sarcastic. She isn't trying to be though. She just jokes around.Doesn't give directions on assignments. If you ask she might act like you're stupid or she might be somewhat helpful.It depends on the day. Don't take the computer class! there are crazy assignments and problems with technology

HORRIBLE!! She gives really bad directions and is unclear with assignments. I advise getting a phone number from a friend in the class so you can talk about assignments. If you email her she never responds. However, she grades easily if you somehow figured out the assignment on your own.

Very unclear with assignments, & when you ask for clarity, she'll often have you figure it out on your own. A lot of unnecessary work. Hates "be" verbs, so don't use them in papers. She does allow rewrites. If your writing has great diction, sentence variation, style, & voice, then this class will be easy for you.

Very nice woman, grades fairly easily, allows rewrites for each paper. Not much class work, many tangent discussions. She is pretty scatter-brained and unorganized so make sure you ask questions to clarify assignments. Turn in papers on time or she won't grade them! *Laptop section allows much needed facebook time!

Really nice, but sometimes doesn't understand that not everyone is an English major. A.k.a. signifigant amount of homework for a Miami plan.However, its an easy class and she leads some pretty fun discussions. Books are good too.I personally thought she was a easy grader, but I know some people in my class had some difficultly. Best thing to do is talk to her.She's very helpful, and appricates effort and participation.If don't mind reading, I wouldn't pass on a chance to take her class.
