Comment:

Professor Stern was a good lecturer but the test structure was extremely confusing. The tests emphasized memorization of proofs rather than applications of content, which was very contrived. This class was taken during COVID where half the class was online, and it seemed like a poor choice given that test settings were not equal.

Comment:

This guy is brilliant, but willing to go over the basics with you no problem IF you speak up and ask him to. Very book heavy class: read before and after lecture and you're golden. Also a lot of things said in lecture that weren't in the book were still tested, so go to class. And office hours.

Don't take his Differential Equations unless you have to. He is clearly intelligent but I cannot follow him in class. I guess most of my classmates cannot follow him either.

Professor clearly is brilliant. However, he is probably better suited to be a researcher than a professor. At times, he just could not understand why his students were not on his intellectual level and unable to understand some of his points. I relied on excessive office hours, a tutor, and youtube videos to succeed in the class.

pretty hard class. 103 is difficult to begin with but his lectures can get pretty confusing because of the way he presents it, but the material itself is pretty confusing too. tests are pretty hard, but you can do decently in his class if you go to office hours and help room and really work on multi.

Okay lecturer if you are good at math and can keep up with him. Otherwise it's jokingly tough. Dry sense of humor and can scare kids during class, but definitely prepares kids way, way better for the final than others.

Nice guy, very smart, just not a good teacher. However, his class does normally do the best on the block final. If you're good at math and can self-sustain, take his section. If you need lots of help and extra explanation, don't look to him.

Brilliant math mind. But thats the end of the good. Funny in the sense that he's completely condescending. Explains things only in math definitions. He will not waste time with you if he thinks you are lost. Tests are adequately tough. Prepare to work alot.

This guy is great if you enjoy a dry sense of humor. Probably the most brilliant man I've ever been in the same room as. One caveat is that he won't coodle freshman, he'll jump right in and probably scare a lot of studnets away. Just hang in there and be prepared to work. By the end, you understand 103 a lot better than other classes.

He's funny and brilliant, but that's the end of anything good. He is perfectly incompetent in answering questions and is sure to find a way to tiptoe around them. It would be a decent class as long as you already know the mateial.
