She was unorganized, all over the place, not descriptive, aggressive, rude and almost offensive, and graded so subjectively she would explain why I got points off. She would say a definition from the book, maybe draw a formula or graph, and do an example where she doesnt explain anything. Avoid at all cost

Comment:

I love this woman! I had a very small class and she literally would say something to me and I would understand what she meant. I am average at Math, but if you are not a strong Math person, then I would not take her for Stats, but I love her to death. Her personality is great, but her tests and homework were average. You can manage.

She will give pop quizzes right before the test that look very similar to the test. These quizzes and the homework she gives are extra credit on the test. This is the only way I did well in the class. This being said she is very derogatory to students in the class. You teach yourself the material from your text book. If you can avoid her, do!

dr. tapia was a very interesting, she would rip on me everyday about using certain pencils and pens. she also directly told me in class that i am forbidden to ask question for the rest of the year. i ended up dropping after the first exam after i got a 20% on it with 6 hours of studying.

Dr. Tapia is a decent lady when she isn't critiquing math, but her class is really hard. She only grades off 4 tests (usually 15-20 questions). And will literally take points away for not writing complete sentences. If you aren't good at math, like me, i wouldn't suggest her. I studied 8+ hours for exams and still struggled.

Dr. Tapia is funny. She usually chooses the easiest problems for her tests, though for a fair warning, you won't learn much in class, instead you will have to study the textbook for yourself. If you enjoy reading math textbooks, then this is the class for you.

I'm a math minor. I am good at math and I like a challenge. What I don't like is a list of things I can't do during class (like go to the bathroom or have water if I need it) and to be disrespected. The only reason this woman is still at this school is because she's tenured. She's an awful professor and an awful person. Do not take Dr. Tapia.

Barely lectures but expects a lot from you. Tests are based on what you do on the homework, but worded very poorly. Knows what she is talking about but makes a lot of simple mistakes in lecturing. She also focuses more on work rather than right answer. Doesn't usually give full credit for right answer if the work isn't the way she likes it.

Your grade comes from the tests. We only had 4 tests and the final, but she gives you chances the get "extra credit" with pop quizzes. BAD. Don't take her if you can help it. Be prepared to teach yourself the material. Also she barely speaks English so showing up to class is redundant. Gets off track OFTEN, I woke up and she was talking about TB.

She's really not as bad as people make her seem. She's very eccentric and I felt like she made some of the material more difficult than it needed to be. She explains a lot of the material in class but the only way I really learned it was through the textbook and homework problems. Not my preferred teaching style but overall, it was a decent course.

One of the absolute worst teachers that I have ever had. Her lectures are basically just her copying the book onto the board- incorrectly, followed by an immature level of frustration whenever students ask questions. She does give lots of extra credit opportunities, however, her grading is insane-- you must answer exactly the way she wants.

Dr. Tapia can be inaccessible at times, but if you do your work, ask questions, and show up to the study sessions, you'll do well. She knows her subject well, and she is very willing to talk to you during office hours, during which I found her far more friendly. She is mercurial though, so just follow her rules (even if a bit juvenile).

Dr. Tapia is an interesting person. Honestly, I like her personality. It is easy to get lost in the class though. You have to be there everyday, take every note, follow every problem, do every homework, and ask questions so make an a in the class. That being said if you slack in one of those areas it's really not her fault. She expects alot

THIS WOMAN IF U ARE THINKING OF TAKING HER, DON'T. It's a known among the students to not take her for any math class. couldn't pass any test because she never taught well gave examples in homework of what was on the test. She is inconsistent hard on grading tests, rude, and just doesn't care about the students. Most students droppedfailed

Three words of advice: DON'T TAKE TAPIA! She is more strict in the classroom than any high school teacher (no gum, water, etc). Many times there are questions on the tests that aren't in the homework. The toughest grader ever.

Very straight forward lessons. She says she checks the homework but she doesn't. As long as you pay attention in class you will get an A.
