Comment:

Such a sweet lady; you really don't need to go to class to do well, but you almost feel bad if you don't because of how nice she is. She really just wants to share what she loves, and you can tell she loves doing it. For most people, it's not the most exciting subject out there, but if you keep an open mind, you will enjoy your semester with her.

I went to her office hours and she really wants people to pass. As long as you do the hw, which answers are in the bookonline, you will be fine. for the exam look over the hw, and you will get an A.

The class was really easy as long as you do the homework and news reports. Lectures got really boring but attendance is not mandatory because you are given the notes ahead of time. Tests are fairly easy if you study the notes and homework assignments. Overall, good class.

Professor Richards is a great professor who is very passionate about Astronomy and is always willing to help. The exams can be tricky, but if you show up to class and do the homework I guarantee you will get an A.

I loved this course and I am not a science person. Mercedes is so funny and caring and willing to help. The exam questions are taken directly from the hw's, and the final questions are taken directly from the exams. So you don't need to go to class if you don't want to. There is weekly hw but it's a piece of cake. Definitely recommend.

I personally feel she is one of the best professors on campus. She is so personable and wants you to do well in her class. She will do anything to help you. I am not interested in astronomy at all and she made me look forward to going to her class. Her tests are hard. Just study and do well on the homeworks and labs. Take this class for a GN!

She is ready to answer your question anytime. Astro 5 is like a course mixed by several simple science common sense. You can get A in exam only by reviewing the material she provided for one night. The textbook of this course is a pack containing the lecture of the class so you don't need to go to every class.

Mercedes is one of the more entertaining science lecturers on campus, which isn't saying much. She is a nice lady that gives very fair exams. Study material she posts is helpful, but you need a 94% for an A. Study the notes and you will do well. No textbook is a plus but some iClicker questions. 1/week homeworks are challenging, but not impossible

She's a really great professor and makes a big effort to get people interested in the topic. She keeps her materials up to date, and the homework and labs are simple. The exams vary, but if you study the review notes and the homework answers then they aren't so bad. She's really nice and uses humor and visuals to help us learn. Highly recommend.

i had a really hard time with this class but i told her i was doing bad and she worked with me and i ended up passing. her book is lecture notes so its cheap and the hw and labs are super easy but the exams are pretty difficult

This class is the easiest A you'll ever get. You can fail every exam and still receive an A as long as you get all the points for homework (you get two attempts), clicker questions (you don't even have to get the answers correct), labs (only two and they're short and easy), and news articles (4 sentences, super easy). Super easy, take it.

Thought this was an easy A, I thought wrong. I went to most classes and got the clicker ?'s. There isn't a text but rather a booklet of her power points. They don't help usually. Homework due every week. Exams are tough all true false. Final is comprehensive and almost all true and false. Hard to study for even if you love the subject.

I had Richards for astro 5 and 6. You aren't required to go to class and she puts up the lecture power points on angel. The material is easy, and she's clear enough that you don't need to use her online textbook. Everything on the exam is in her power points. She does random clicker questions, but my friend never did those, and still got an A.
