He is very passionate about what he is teaching and makes that clear from the beginning. I took Music as Mirror for my FYS and he made the class very interesting by playing all different types of music for us and even letting us share our own. There are some writing assignments but they aren't too bad compared to what I've heard from other FYS's.

Yeah I don't know who these people are that gave him good ratings, but he's ridiculous. This was a core class and here's the amount of work: 4 papers (2 of which you're requird to go to a concert), a midterm, a final, 2 quizzes, and weekly homework. PLUS he grades papers really hard and doesn't make any comments so u can improve. DON'T TAKE CLASS!!

OK first of all, he's really hard unless you really enjoy classical music and want to study the history of classical music and memorize a million terms. He goes strictly by the book (which is INCREDIBLY boring) and there are 2 quizzes, weekly hw, a midterm, a final, and two papers and this is a music class! oh, and he plays favorites. don't take him

I love this guy. If I hadn't been a transfer student, I would have changed to a Music Major in a heartbeat after taking this calss. Great class, great experience. Makes if fun, but you also learn a crap load.
