Fr. Tang is really caring and gives wonderful feedback. He gives chances to redo any work that is not an A grade. He is very laid-back and does not make things complicated. He is highly respected in his field, a simple google search will show as much. Taking his class was nice break from all the science courses that I normally take. Def. worth it!

Father Tang can be a bit hard to deal with at times, but he is really not that bad and I learned a lot from the class. Painting one is a LOT of work though so I wouldn't take it just for fun. The syllabus says attendance is mandatory, but sometimes father tang doesn't even show up, if you miss a day you'll be way behind though.

it is impossible to take Father Tang's class and not become a more developed, accomplished, and knowledgable artist. I have seen major improvement in my classmates art as well as my own. Father Tang seems serious but he loves to laugh and his blatant critiques are downright hilarious at times, if you have a good sense of humor.

I thought it was very helpful to put on a show from scratch. Having no direction for the show in the start made us feel even more accomplished to finally put it all together. Fr. Tang is the best teacher ever!

I took Painting 1 from Professor Tang and I loved the experience. Tang gives very specific feedback on each student's progress. I appreciated the challenge of gaining this foundation, and the course has encouraged me to take Tang's classes in the future. I strongly recommend Tang if you are serious and passionate about pursuing painting.

Comment:

The gallery visits and syllabus were the best. The artist listed for each project to research strongly helped trying to figure out themes and ideas. I wish that I had taken this course sooner and not at the same time as senior thesis, so that I would had more time to focus on painting projects.

This painting class has been amazing. I never ever imagined I could create pieces like I did. Fr. Tang gave me great guidance and critiques that pushed me to do my best work. This class not only inspired me but motivated me to want to be a better artist. Take the class if you want to improve your technique.

We had our Final Crit today; he asked us if we thought we would produce what we did at the beginning of the semester. No way!! We had to work, but it's worth it. He told us our grade an A- or A! Definitely will take Tang again in the future!!
