Comment:

He's a nice guy but an annoying grader. He doesn't give 20/20 and be prepared to work in groups all semester. The group assignments are easy but take all hour. The whole class is five essays and he lets you make corrections for the first to for a higher grade. YOU MUST PURCHASE the book. However I doubt you will get him because he is retiring.

Any class with Makki is not an easy A. Expect to read and devote a lot of time into this class if you want at least a B. He tries to crack random jokes here and there, but he also calls out students as if it is his job. I would not recommend him, and I will not be taking him for comp106.

Good person and most importantly a good professor. There is no reason to fail this class (unless you are a terrible reader because we read several stories from the textbook). PARTICIPATE!!. At the end of the year he will ask you how much participation points you deserve out of 150. Only bad thing I can say:he makes several really lame jokes : :

This class is good to take if you want to lighten you schedule because it is not demanding at all. Although, this class is super easy, you need to PARTICIPATE. Also, this professor does not believe in A's, for the most part the best is an A- because he knows his class is easy. He HAS to like you, and know your "serious" about his class. A good man

Nice guy. Although, this is SUCH an easy class, youll probably end up with an A-. He knows his class his easy, so at the end it depends if he likes you or not to give you an A. Theres no doubt you are able to get an A its depends if he wants to give you it. Beware for your GPA. Hard grader, VERY picky doesnt believe in 100% he'll give you a 4.85.

okay.. this is a easy class only like 5 papers. lets you revise the first two. however the lectures are boring and not at all useful. he is a very tough grader and marks down on random things. PARTICIPATE he strongly believes in that and its worth 150 points. overall it was easy just plain out boring

Terrible teacher. He takes no time to care for his students. He practically grades your essays by a glance and it is obvious e doesnt read them. EXTREMELY LAZY. He accidentaly graded my rough draft for an essay and when i told him about it he straight up said he didint want to regrade it. you will only get an A if he wants you too get an A. AVOID!!

Extremely easy course. Gives straight forward directions. Only gives a handful of assignments, which he lets you revise for better grades. Attendance is necessary though, after so many absences you will fail the course. Other than that, great class.

He was the worst Professor I've ever had. He treats his students like middle schoolers and gives unnecessary amounts and restrictions on the work. If you like being treated like you're back in 9th grade and doing 50 surveys for a research paper and having to write our your assignments by skipping lines like in middle school, this is the man for you

Professor Makki is a very easy teacher. Think of a 9th grade English class, and Comp 105 with Makki is very similar. He is a very boring professor who does not really have expectations for his class. If you are looking to actually learn something useful, steer clear of this class. If all you want is an easy A, this is for you.

Professor Makki is the man. He is a very cool teacher. He is always joking around and having fun with the class. Very lenient if you turn an assignment in late or if you mess up on a paper he gives you a chance to get some points back. This is the best teacher at UMD. I will be taking this teacher for every comp class I have throughout college.

Amazing guy, Amazing teacher, pay attention in his class and you will learn a lot all you have to do is write around 9 essays for his class 4 of them are only 300 words the rest are around 600

He is not very clear with his expectations. His class is based off of 3 major papers and a bunch of in class assignments. Many people who received the same grades as me got higher grades on their transcripts. Hard to understand his accent and not a very nice teacher. I would avoid this class if I were you. He does not teach the material well at all

He teaches things wrong and than marks us down points because the book says otherwise. he yells at the class and talks to us like we're in 1st grade. I felt like I was back in high school. I didn't learn anything from this class because he spent more time picking apart papers as opposed to teaching us how to be more efficient writers. Avoid.

His accent is terrible! I don't know why they let him teach English! Makes you buy a grammar book then constantly corrects the book. The entire class is basically a review of middle school material. Essay topics are very vague and he doesn't really answer questions about them. Extremely easy class though. Wrote the essays in 30 min and got an A-.

He's easy, if that's what you're looking for. Goes over the basics that you learn pretty much in middle school. But, he does make jokes and seems like a good guy. Not a hard or mean professor at all. Not a total disappointment but a semester of him is enough.
