whole course is 15 quizzes on lockdown browser 2 essays that are 1 page each (single spaced) on films and 1 essay that is 4 pages (double spaced) and 3 discussion boards the discussion boards are open for 1 week and he expects at least 20 responses to get a 100 so doable just annoying!!!! decent grader never talked to him easy class I guess........

Lol I barely tried & got an A. The key is this: his class is a point-grading system. Dont fret if you get a 70 in 1 of his tests cuz he drops 1 of his lecture exams and a whole lot more. Its all about the points you get. U might not be a good test taker like me so I encourage you to rock all of the other stuff. Theres a lot of writing. Beware.

Comment:

Dr. Bologna is a great professor, being a bio major you do have to work for the grades that you want. He is tough but you will learn a lot from him. Who said being a bio major was easy. Expect to write a lot and in the end that will help you in the long run. He is very helpful and I would take him again.

Students that dont have a strong biology background will have difficulty in this class since some background material is not covered and assumed knowledge. Midterm covered half the textbook and the final is cumulative (24 chapters). Ton of writing assignments, 1.5-3pg essays each week which are also on the exams. Not my favorite, but not the worst.

Got an A in the course. But personally didnt like the way he organized his courses. Directions are unclear and difficult to follow. Hence why people usually mess up the first discussion. Make sure to post 20+ responses within the given week. However, theyre not meant to be back to back. A gap of 10 min must be shown to receive credit. Use sources

I took his class online and this was a terrible mistake, we had easy quizzes but for the discussions, he was very VERY picky. It's like you enrolled for an English class, not a biology class. I emailed him multiple times about my low grade on the discussion and what I can improve on and he always tells me to refer back to his syllabus. Very bad.

I do not agree with his way of teaching. His assignments are not specific and seems to forget that this is not a writing class. Even on his exams, if your answers are shorts, he hates that. Midterm will be on 10 chapters +10 papers, finals on 23 chapters + more than 20 papers that you have to memorize. DO NOT TAKE HIM at all.

all of his bio113 class is failing and he is not doing anything about it.... the class average on the exams are alway below 50, he is a very bad professor idk where all these good comments come from. at first i used to think i was not smart enough but then i realized all the class is having a bad grade in that class. I DONT RECOMMEND !!!

I took this class online and it was pretty easy. 15 quizzes: 10 ?'s in 10 min. and 2 attempts each, 3 1-page papers and 1 4-5 page essay. Along with that there are 3 discussions that you have to actively participate in almost everyday to get full credit. The 1-pg papers are a summary of a video and your reaction to it.

This class was amazing! The mandatory trip to do research was a little pricey, but well worth it. The prof made the lectures interesting and presented everything clearly. He is hilarious and a great person if you get to know him. There are 5 paper summaries, 2 tests, and 1 final research report. Not too demanding either.

I took Biological Oceanography with Dr. B last semester. It was honestly one of the toughest classes I have had in a while in terms of workload and information. There is a paper due every week that can be a summary, comparecontrast, or synthesis paper. There's only 2 exams and there are about 4 essays and 10 short answers per test. Study hard.

He has a big time ego problem. You have to satisfy his ego to get good grade. He doesn't follow same grading ruler for everybody. If he don't like some students he always try to give them bad grades, completely overlooking their in-class and exam performances.

i took him online winter class,it was alot of work every day you have something due,but they were easy.you can take the quiz 3 time! if you share the quezes with your friends,you should get high grade. Test are almost the same like quiz so save all your quizzes and make sure you know them for the tests.He give 1 extra credit essay.I love him

BEST TEACHER EVER! He is so nice and helpful with everything. Tests require alot of writing and he assigns weekly 1 page papers. But he is really good with grading and tries to help you a lot. Plus the trip to VIERS research station is awesome. You will love this class!

The best teacher MSU has!! Take him you will learn a lot and experience a lot!! Not to mention he is so good looking - it doesn't hurt to have eye candy for your favorite professor! He's the best! Take him as many times as you can.

theres weekly papers & the project assigned is alot of work, he's a fair grader, but the trip to USVI is totally worth it, i had a blast. he knows his stuff about marine life, thats for sure. overall, lots of work and not "easy" but def worth it.
