Professor Martens is enthusiastic about the course and cares about all of her students. She uses hands-on learning to make the class enjoyable and has clear grading criteria for all assignments. Prisca is seriously one of the sweetest professors you will ever have! She grades very fairly, offers lots of encouraging words, and makes learning fun. This class was a breeze thanks to her! You can tell she is passionate about children's literature.

I absolutely love prof. Martens! She is so knowledgeable about elementary education and everything that comes to books. We read lots of children's picture & chapter books, and all of them were pretty enjoyable to read. There are some reading logs and 3 projects relating to authors/various genres of books. Take her!!!

She is very supportive. There were A LOT of assignments that require a lot thought, but she emphasizes that it's going to be OK and it's really nice to have a teacher understand that we're under a lot of pressure. She seems to believe she's there to teach us, but also to be there for us emotionally.

Prof Martens was the highlight to my semester. She is a sweetheart who just wants you to "stay calm & breathe deep". There were a lot of assignments, but easily manageable. No papers or tests, just group and individual projects. Be ready to read a TON of children's books. I really liked having her as a professor and this class overall.

Had Prisca for Level 1 and she is incredible. She is very helpful and understanding if you ever need to turn something in late she is fine with it. No test/quizes. You do have a lot of projects to do by the end of the semester. Take this class with her!!

She is the nicest person you will ever meet! She is very understanding about stress students experience from other classes. She is always telling us to stay calm and breathe deep. The only thing I would advise is to not get behind with the reading logs! Otherwise you'll be just fine!
