Introduction to Africa with Dr. Bhatt was amazing! She's clearly so in love with the culture, and that love is contagious! For an early-morning class, her lectures could be a bit dull at times, but I loved the class none the less!

She's great! This class was a breeze for a senior just needing an easy A. She's very knowledgeable and very helpful. She's passionate about her subjects and that makes for an enjoyable class.

I took a few courses with this professor and she was one of my advisers. I personally love her. She is kind, passionate, articulate, and so interesting! She has traveled, she knows numerous languages, she is inspiring. I took difficult courses with her on purpose and she challenged me, which I loved. Take her.

Although I personally found the class to be rather boring most of the time (taking 237 as a core requirement, not out of love for history), Professor Bhatt really did her best to keep students engaged, is incredibly kind and intelligent, and usually graded on whether or not I understood historical significance rather than specific dates & details.

Comment:

Not good, but not bad either. Sometimes she's interesting, sometimes she repeats too much. She doesn't have much reading, and the exams are easy as long as you study a lot beforehand. Just make sure you only miss a few classes, even though she lets you miss more.

This is my second time having her, and my opinion remains mostly the same. Although this class was a lot more interesting and there was less repetition, she is still an extremely hard grader. It is almost impossible to get an A from her because of her need for your timed exams to be grammatically correct.

This class was so.... boring! It seemed as if Professor Bhatt repeated the same thing multiple times. Although she is a very interesting person to know on a one to one ratio, she is not too good at teaching a class. Also, she is a tough grader, your grade is based only upon exams. Dr. Bhatt is not a good professor. She goes off on tangents and expects you to know material that is neither taught to you or found in the books (which are many!) I asked for help and despite all of my efforts, received only a B+ in the class. She is very boring. I would not recommend taking the class (unless you want to fall asleep)

On the one hand, she is knowledgable and dedicated. But she is one of those teachers that insist that your opinion match her own. She teaches her opinions as facts and grades down if you disagree with her, even if you articulate your opinions well and back them up with facts.

I also took Ancient History and an Honors course with her. One of the best teachers of my whole college career. She's lived such a cool life, she's sweet, cares about her students, and if you go to class, her tests are no problem.
