Dr. Lutz is a good prof in the way that it's clear he wants you to learn, but he doesn't put much outside effort in. He is not very nice and approachable outside of class and his exams range from very fair to unfair. All lectures are recorded, but be sure to go to class in case one is faulty or he gives bonus points for coming. A lot of memorizing!

One of my favorite profs at Emory. Lectures in a way that makes you appreciate biochemistry and want to learn more. You will want to come to class, despite the fact that its a 9 AM MWF. Put as much effort into this class as you did with orgo, and you will be rewarded.

Lutz is a good lecturer, no doubt. But he basically gives zero help outside of class. He is extremely impatient when students ask questions that he might think are stupid. When I asked him a "stupid" question, he said, "Oh too bad, go back to listen to the recordings." Him being department chair is an excuse to not reply emails and being unreachabl

One of the best lecturers at Emory, very lucid and concise classes, and himself is very erudite not only in biochemistry. It is hard to not to notice his intelligence. He is hardworking and he expects you to be so as well, and sometimes he can even be strict if you keep missing classes. His exams are hard but fair, and you do learn from him.

Dr. Lutz does a great job tying material to core concepts. He really wants you to learn the basic of biochemistry and understand the beauty of the body. Lutz is very approachable after class and in office hours, which is good because his fast paced lectures will leave you with questions. Exams are tough but fair, especially relative to orgo.

He makes the class interesting. It certainly is difficult, I managed to get out alive though (I can't the same for others). The multiple choice on the exams are purposefully tricky which is really irritating because I understand the material but wasn't able to "prove it" it on the exams. smh He's a great professor though but prep for all-nighters.

If you have a passion for learning biochemistry, this class is great for those regardless of major. That being said, Dr. Lutz is a professor whose clarity in lecturing matches his test difficulty. Not only is his class is by far the best for those prepping for the MCAT, it also gives you an appreciation of how amazing and elegant biochemistry is.

Dr. Lutz is an amazing professor! Biochemistry is by no means an easy class, but he's enthusiastic, a great lecturer, and more than willing to explain everything to you in office hours or through email. I came to love Biochem because of him!

He's an amazing lecturer! He tends to pack in a ton of information in each lecture, but he uploads podcasts of the lecture (with corresponding ppt slides) on itunes U. The material is pretty tough, and he expects you to know each mentioned detail of a topic-- but if you put in the work necessary, you'll do fine in his class.

He's alright. Not good....and not bad. I guess I think of him as just being there, which does not say a lot.
