Comment:
Lustgarten is nice man but his Finance class has been one of the worst education experiences of my life. Material is sped through rapidly with no connections between topics. Exam dates are announced with a week's notice. I've had to spend an 6-8 hours weekly to teach myself concepts, thanks to poor teaching. A disaster from start to finish.

Comment:
In four years of undergrad and now 1.5 years of post-grad I've never had a teacher worse that Professor Lustgarten. He refuses to communicate exam dates until a week before the test. He zoom cuts out for 15 minutes almost every class. Advice for Prof Lustgarten: clearly articulate expectations for the class on syllabus (when things are due).

Comment:
Professor Lustgarten goes through the material way too fast and does not clearly go over concepts. When you ask a question he tells you to refer to the textbook. You will not learn anything from him; have to learn it all on your own. Gives a moderate amount of homework with reasonable due dates.

Comment:
Not very accessible outside class - takes days until you hear back. Not the most friendly type of professor. The exam is tough, you need to make a lot of efforts. The contents are useful and will be the basis of other finance classes, but his powerpoints and class materials are pretty messy in format. The textbook is expensive but helpful.

People will complain, but it's because they either didn't do the hws or the practice questions. If you do those things, you'll be fine. His teaching style is a little dry, but he provides more than enough examples and practice.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. This professor constantly berates students, has no interest in teaching, does not respond to emails, and does not communicate clearly. His class is incredibly difficult and does not try to explain or teach concepts. Wait until the following semester and hope there is someone else teaching.

He is one of the worst professor I have seen in Baruch. His final that I took yesterday was extremely bad. He does not curve usually but this final has to be curved to let anyone pass. I have no idea what I am gonna do if he does not curve. his lecture slides are all rubbish, too easy to solve but exams are way harder than slides.

Hes not as bad as the reviews here make him out to be. He provides practice exams which I dont expect at the MBA level. Much of the lecture is spent asking you to solve problems (a question for you) which is helpful. I found his personality fun & endearing. He is seasoned in teaching this class & does want students to succeed. Exams are curved.

There is no such a easy accounting class, everything you need to do is study by yourself. This professor is more lenient, do all of your homework, doing well in 3 exams you will be fine. He curves (although I don't know how his grading works) but study hard you will be fine. AND be ready for the MC answer of (NONE OF ABOVE ) in the exam.

I think he means well but he is isnt effective. Each chapter takes days to go through. HE doesnt give you all the slides at once. He breaks them down and they arent available until 11:30 p.m. the night before class. Half the slides have mistakes. MIDTERMS and FINAL ARE INSANE. Dont expect much in terms of a curve either.

delay all homework of Connect, open the chapter one by one, explain the behind logic with little sense, read the ppt, but errors here and there, even no correct answer among ABCD, so far using 4 class time to cover chapter14 after already deleted some pages---while next door prof only uses one class to finish chap14. do not even dream get extra cr

If this is your second time taking 3100, you will probably have an easier time of it than if it is your first. I took Levy and opted for an 'F' then took Lustgarten and got a 'B.' I would only recommend taking him if it's your second time around and you have some knowledge of the subject. Do his powerpoint problems before coming to class.

3 tests (2 midterms, 1 cumulative final) count for 90% of your grade and each test covers at least 100 pages of textbook material. No formula sheets are provided, and all lectures involve slides difficult to follow. I do not recommend if you are currently working full-time as the workload may require taking days off to pass.

This guy is ancient. His powerpoints are all messed up and what he says isn't too coherent. HWs are useless, he takes a year to respond to emails. You'll prolly do poorly on his tests if you don't have the testbank. Having that and being an accounting major makes your life a little easier, it's still a challenge regardless. Avoid him if you can

I honestly don't think he's as bad as everyone on here makes him out to be. If you read his slides carefully and do the practice exams, you'll be fine. He's pretty good at curving. 16/23 correct was an A. Don't be intimidated, try to sit in the front so you can pay attention. Print out slides and read them and do the clicker questions BEFORE class.

If you have prior experience with 3100 and you don't really care on learning, take this professor. He is unorganized, lectures are boring, and I had no idea what I was doing. I handed in my final blank and he didn't look at me and waived his hand goodbye which is very rude!

For the love of God and all that is holy, avoid this professor unless you have prior experience with 3100 and you really fully understand intermediate acc bfore hand. he does not care about his students and his lectures are horrible. the tests are difficult. 2 mts and a final.

Lustgarten is the most unprepared, unclear and unprofessional MBA professor I had while at Baruch College. His slides are copied from the textbook and he acts like every student has vast experience with a financial calculator. No flexibility in a formula sheet for exams and no recognition that most students work full time. DO NOT PAY FOR THIS CLASS

Comment:
No departmental exams, but his exams are about as tough as them. The lectures aren't nearly enough to do well. Fortunately he gives test banks to the class that are very relevant to the exams. Hw isn't mandatory, but nearly all the students who got A's did do them. A financial calculator is mandatory for his class.

Comment:
If you study his PowerPoint slides and practice exams, you'll be more than safe. However, having to be in his lectures for an entire semester was extremely jarring. You want a professor who is very proficient in describing advanced concepts; and Lustgarten just isn't the ideal. Manageable but not recommended.
