He is straight forward on what you will be graded on and how you will be graded. And his final is very. very difficult and he does test you on EVERYTHING - so just make sure to go to class and listen to EVERYTHING.

Prof. Strauss is a very knowledgable man, but his final exam is very difficult. You must know ALL the slides and you must know all the j/e he told you throughout the semester, even though he might've told you them incorrectly. Avoid at all costs, unless you just care about passing, because its pretty hard to get an A but passing is easy.

Unfortunately what you learn and what you're tested on are two different things. He's smart, and you'll learn a decent amount, but his lectures are unorganized and he literally treats you like a number. Group project counts a lot. The final is literally impossible. Best way to study if from your 9805 and 9804 textbooks b/c he teaches j/e offhand.GL

Very interesting class, focuses on concepts as opposed to quantative problems. Final is very long but fair. Know slides very well....

Nice and friendly guy and really knows his accounting. But don't be fooled by his friendliness and think the final will be easy. It was challenging. You HAVE to take good notes during class because the final is based on the slides and his lecture notes.

He's easygoing during the semester, but unenthusiastic about the future of ACC field in US. Doesn't set high expectations from students. He vigorously oposes to practice in-class problems or cases. The CPA-like final is 20-pages long, 75 questions mostly cases 5-8 a)b)c)... I averaged A and did all extra credits, but after the final eSIMS posted B-

You have no choice but to take this old man. Be aware of the final. His class is very unstructured. You have an assigned seat for the entire semester which makes feel like you are in high school. I found his class very lame and boring.

He seemed really lenient throughout the course then totally hit you hard with the final grade. He is not sympathetic at all with the final grade, which is very subjective. He emphasizes so much on FASB rules w/ minimal j/e examples. His course is so twisted b/c he doesn't provide you with a lot of j/e problems yet he tests you on them.

KNOWS ACCOUNTING well! Really intelligent person. Really generous grader. Only one final in his class - just study from his slides. If you know the slides in and out, then you will do well in the final. All theory in the text should only be used for reference. Papers are generously graded, and so are the presentations. Do all HW's and participate.

Great guy...has forgotten more about accounting than the rest of the Baruch faculty will ever know. Finish the paper early so you can focus on the final during the last month. It's a lot of material and it's easy to get buried at the end of the semester.

Great teacher. Has lots of interesting stories. Material was alittle complicated at times but as long as you attend class, you should be ok.

Great professor - funny and knowledgeable. Without a doubt one of the brightest professors at Baruch. Although the final was challenging, there were about 70 questions covering all chapters, it was not too difficult. All in all, this was my last class at Baruch, and I am very happy I had an opportunity to meet this professor.

A necessary evil to exit the accounting prgram. Strauss is a nice professor but I found his class to be a bit too unstructured. He will test you on the slides and the homework. However many of the slides are incomplete. The packets are way too detailed to go through and remember everything. The final is very difficult. Memorize everything!

great course and great instructor to wrap up the accounting program. Course has only one exam, that being said, you will need a lot of time to prepare for the final(which is not easy, but fair)

Very easy to lose attention in his lectures; he doesn't expect you to remember much from them either. The final was draining; covered all the topics in his lectures with emphasis on application, not pure memory. He's a lenient grader, and kind fellow, nevertheless. A technical wizard, as far as accounting is concerned.

This is one of the best professors at Baruch. You’ll get a lot of useful information. Just don’t be stressed by the amount of the material handed out. You should focus on the main PPT slides, and make sure you understand all the transactions (Dr Cr), even though the professor does not always mention them, you’ll need to know them for the final.

One of the most boring professors, teaches class in a dimly lit room and his notes on the projector are black letters over dark blue background(cant see anything). hard conceptual tests, collects hw, which is at the time you do it a waste of time.

HE SAYS HIS TEST ARE EASY BUT THEY REQUIRE MORE TIME THEN WHAT IS GIVEN. OVERALL HIS TEST ARE QUIET EASY IF YOU READ AND DO THE HOMEWORKS. EVERYTHING HE SAYS IN CLASS IS ON THE TEST, EVERYTHING NOT SAID IS NOT. EASY IF YOU DO YOUR PART, NO FREE GRADES.
