Nearly impossible to understand him. He started the class off in the middle of chapter 19 of the textbook even though no one knew what he was talking about. He fails to explain effectively. I had him last year too: by far my worst prof. I ended up dropping the course. If you can avoid having him as a prof you should.

Horrible Professor. Assignments were terribly written, exam and midterm both had multiple errors on them. If you have to take this course pray you do not have him.

Dasgupta took an interesting and potentially easy class and made it into something nearly impossible. Once you get past the fact that he doesn't speak very good english, what he is saying makes no sense, and is not taught clearly whatsoever. Every single lecture he gets corrected by a student.

Comment:
This guy pretty much rants all class and then tells you to read the textbook. He has referenced movies and TV shows to the point of confusion (Talking about Friday doing things. How am I supposed to know "Friday" is a person in a TV show?"). Don't take his classes if you rely on teachers to teach. Hope you like reading textbooks!

It can be hard to learn from his lectures as he just stands up in front and talks while writing all over the chalkboard in random places.

The worst prof I have ever had. Is not clear during lectures and writes different examples all over the place. You have no idea what he is saying during lectures and the PowerPoint slides are more helpful than he is.

worst experience at dalhousie. he mumbled on and on. you cant even read his notes, the textbook is useless. assignments were easy then the midterms were ridiculously hard and unclear. definitely dont take this class for fun, and if you are an econ major, pray that someone else is teaching this class.

Its a challenging class for sure. A lot of theoretical underpinnings. If you focus on really understanding the material, it becomes interesting. Also, you begin to appreciate how slowly prof. Dasgupta introduces new material. Hard material, but the profs expectations are reasonable. hes very approachable and wants to help.

Comment:
This class taught by Professor Dasgupta is such a difficult class. Some people were say this class is even harder than the master level microeconomics. the text book is from 20s, which gave me a hard time to read it. The half of the class materials is dealing with linear programming. if you dont have enough background of mathematics, dont take this

Comment:
Learning from Dasgupta was not at all a pleasant experience. Lectures were not well organized, notes served more as informal outlines for his lectures than for study purposes. Text is purely theory while tests and assignments were numerical - poor choice on his part. Little feedback provided. Language barrier present, though not to a grand scale.

get out of the class if you're in it. Hands down the worst teacher I had in four years. Expect at least a letter drop from what you're use to. He hates getting asked questions.

I changed classes and so should you... very nice guy but wasted a lot of time just chatting in class. Other econ profs have notes to guide you along and he was really behind on that. For some people hes great, but just not my style.
