She can be nice but she is a real stickler. Very VERY tough grader and picks at everything in your essays. I had to drop the class because she was giving me a hard time on my 3 page thesis that's supposed to be the pre work for a 10 page essay. I do not recommend. I took MUS/AMS 237 but they don't have that option.

Prof silvia is a great personality with lots of knowlege and talents. But she is very picky in finding errors in your writings even accurate than computer and she will make you write again untill its 100% perfect. Therefore, it consumes a lot of your time and makes you exhausted if you have other subjects to study.

Make sure you email her very specific questions when you have to write a paper because she doesn't give a rubric or written directions of what she specifically wants. I enjoyed going on the trips into the city, but some ended very late.

I also had her for Arts of NYC, and I LOVED her. She's engaging, interested in the material, and loves her students. I'd take her again if I could. Don't mess around on the computer when she's not looking, and try to engage yourself in the material. That's what learning is all about. Keep an open mind, and be ready to learn, and you'll adore her!

Epic! A truly excellent musician and an above average teacher. If you keep up with your responsibilities, you can get an A in her class no matter what your musical ability. If you're not getting a good grade, you've probably never opened the book. As a musician, I will say she is one of the best music teachers I have ever had.
