If you love drawing, want to improve and want someone that knows what they're talking about then Johns your guy. He might not always be clear with what hes saying, but just go up to him and ask him for help. Nicest person to. He's willing to help and wants his students to improve. You'll get better plus he brings food so thats a plus

Comment:

John is a great! Sometimes he wasn't very clear and had the whole class confused but a lot of us were just new to the stuff he teaches. It's frustrating cause if you already have drawing experience (me), it's harder to get use the techniques he shows you, but they really are helpful. If you actually take to heart what he offers, you won't regret it

Mr. Calimee is a great teacher. Don't miss class! You will fall behind, and he teaches useful information every class that you don't want to miss! He is extremely generous students and goes out of his way to make class and the projects interesting. He's a really good guy and my skills have improved a ton from taking his class!

LOVED this class. LOVED having John as a teacher. I'm pretty sad about not being able to have him as a teacher next semester. He teaches things that can be used in any style of art, I was so motivated and inspired by his class. If you take it, be prepared to challenge your mind to get past what you know, if you do, he can teach you so much!

finally, an art teacher who taught how to draw from a distance, who taught perspective, who taught gray scale...this doesnt count the number of DVD;s he has available regarding art, painting, and painters if one is interested..also taught us how to do fur, how to add to a perspective drawing when original was 'finished',..came two hours before clas

This guy sucks, I dropped his class after the 3rd day, really couldn't take him. He doesn't allow you to talk at all, class was pretty much a drag. Don't take him, seriously he has favoritism and he is so boring, seriously cannot take him.

Anyone that thinks this teacher is not good, sure isn't a good student. John is awesome, best drawing teacher I ever had. Incredible artist. He is here to teach, not to make money on salary, and that's no lie. Listen to him, and get over the learning hump and you will be happy you did. john was a pretty kool teacher..u just make him laugh and you will have a good time..it was a really good class but it would of been better if you would of let the both of us get out early to take care of our sisters.. but still had a really good time and was the best class we had in college..i still remember the pepsi and the divder you gave me..

This teacher was horrible! Sure, I have had art classes in the past, but even with those classes, this class was beyond difficult. It almost seemed like for the first few weeks he would evaluate his students and pick out his favorites and only help THEM out. He never explained anything clearly and always ignored me even when i had my hand raised.

I rated John's drawing classes with a 1 in the "easiness" thing because drawing was new for me period. But his enthusiasm in exploring and explaining visual art has opened up an old new world for me. I suppose I enjoyed the pain--afterwards. But I am so grateful to have been his student. I sure wish he'd teach OIL!!!

If you use class time efficiently it is easy to get an A. I didnt improve my drawing skills and did not end up with a work that i could put in my portfolio, Calimee is not to coherent but is nice.

Mr. Calimee has worked for large publishers for a reason, he's very good at what he does. Among the best. He is also able to transmit what he knows to his students, which many pros can't. His expectations are high, but he is patient and knowledgable.
