I dreaded taking a lab science but was told Larkin's class was a good choice. It turned out to be one of the most interesting and exciting classes I have taken at AU. Larkin makes learning physics so much fun with her mini demonstrations each class. And as long as you pay attention and do the homework you will easily pass. 100% recommend her class

Professor Larkin is one of the best professors I have taken in college. She is super sweet and caring for all her students. Even though the course work can be hard, she is always there to help you along the way. Would definitely recommend, you can easily do well in her class if you put in the work to understand the material

I really liked Professor Larkin as a person. It was just a lot to cover in one semester! Stay on top of your stuff or you will not pass. The labs and papers were the best part, but pay attention in lectures and read your textbook! Generally a tough grader, but worth it if you're there to learn rather than for an easy grade.

She is very passionate about physics so she likes sharing her knowledge of it. Her lectures aren't boring and even as a non-science major, I loved the class. She is very personable and always loves to talk and help you out. She'll memorize your name even if it's a massive lecture class. She really cares about what she is doing.

Maybe it's because she's used to teaching more advanced classes... Spends very little time discussing class material and wastes time with pointless personal stories. Tough grader, bad lecturer. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND if just trying to satisfy a gen ed requirement.

Dr. Larkin is a great teacher. Changing Views of the Universe was one of my first gen-eds, and I'm glad I took it! The class itself is more conceptual than mathematics heavy, which is nice because its not an actual physics class. You have reading quizzes and two major quizzes and papers, but no exams (not even a final - its a project).

Insanely strict attendance policy. More homework in this class than all of my other classes combined, and the tests are nearly impossible. You would think that assigning all of this work would translate to rewarding students with halfway decent grades, but she grades so meticulously that you spend 10 hours a week to get a C on the homework. Dont!!!

She's a very dry lecturer and kind of condescending to be honest--kinda like she assumes you don't know very much. She really wants you to go to office hours, and she seems nice enough, but not a great teacher and gets confused a lot when you ask questions. She also assigns a ton of work and grades very meticulously.

Dr. Larkin's class is absolutely fascinating, and the guest speakers are incredible. The reading quizzes are nearly impossible though, as she seems to choose very obscure questions. However, you're able to make up for those grades with homework and papers, which are easy enough, especially since the options for topics are broad. Take her class!

Professor Larkin is really nice and LOVES when her students come to office hours. She showers you with coffees and teas and granola bars and wants to make you feel as welcome as possible. Despite this, I found it hard to focus in her class and didn't really understand much of what was being taught.

She gives so much homework and her test are so difficult. Also, the labs are kinda hard. She really wants you to go to her office hours, but I never went because she is annoying about it. If you are interested in taking physics take this class, if not don't! She curves in the end

This is not a difficult class if you took any physics in High School or you're willing to put in some minimal effort on homework and go to her office hours. If you do this, and try to form a relationship with her, she will be helpful and easy.

Overall a good professor. The homework assigned is a little long but there is only about 10 assignments the whole semester. Grades with a standard deviation, so if you do better than the class average, you probably will get an A. I recommend her class to students mathematically inclined who want to learn some good physics.

Is accessible and nice, and helpful. Cool demonstrations. HOWEVER this class is a ****load of work, and if you aren't scientifically inclined it will be extremely difficult. Assigns a ridiculous amount of homework but does not grade on accuracy. Tests are a nightmare. Participation is not a part of your grade. And she does count effort
