I had the pleasure of taking MAT 341 Applied Differential Equations and MAT 365 Toplogy with Prof Barcus in 1987 ...still going strong 25+ years later- excellent presentation. His lectures were from memory. Tests challenging but fair.

Don't listen to the people complaining about this guy. Sure, he's old and has a low voice, but he uses the mic just fine. The tests are a JOKE if you study and practice. Just do the homeworks and study. You should have no problem passing this class. Be responsible and you can get an A. He also organizes his lectures well.

Has a low voice, hard 2 see whats on board. Only 2 exams & 1 final. Exams= 6 ?s w/parts. If u took AP calc, will be easy. Didn't go to class after 2nd exam, still got an A bc I understood hw & asked ?'s during recitation. Curves are applied for each exam and to final overall grade. Success= PRACTICE. Look @ txt b4 coming to class & asking stupid ?s

Do not take any class with this guy. I dont know how he's been teaching for billion years with his teaching skills. I've atteneded all of his lecture class, recitation class and still had hard time understanding the material. If you want the grade you deserve from your hard work. do not take his class

It was almost impossible to hear him and see what he was writing every lecture. If it wasn't for the recitation I probably would not have learned anything this semester. I really did not do anything for me.

Barcus teaches the pre-calculus really well. The calculus has been killing my class so far since no one understands it. I don't think he realizes that we don't comprehend what he puts on the board. He's a funny guy but you gotta work a little to do well. Do the homework, go to recitation, and study a bit and you should be fine.

Professor Barcus has to be the best professor Stony has...he takes the time to make sure you understand the material and he is excellent in his office hours. You can go to him anytime to talk or to get help he never rushes you.

He like 80 years old, but he surely knows his stuff. He teaches the class like its graduate-level. Lectures are mainly incomprehensible, textbook is not much more helpful. However his tests are fairly easy, and homework is graded based on effort, not whether you got it right or not. Good professor if you like math and want to learn a lot.

Best university level math professor I've had yet! He rly knows the material, has a good approach to explaining it, and has a good grasp of the students' levels(doesn't assume u kno more than what the prerequisites require). He provides excellent and helpful examples and test reviews. His office hrs. r extremely helpful(even if ur not in his class)

I think he is one of the best math professors on this campus. You can always go to him for help and he will never turn you away. He is one of those teachers who wants you to actually learn. If you want to take 205 take it with him!

Complete opposite. Doesn't seem to like answering many questions, even if it was just something that was asked to clarify the lesson. I know he knows his stuff, but he doesn't seem like he likes those clarifying type questions when students ask.
