Comment:
Dr Woodward would be better off retiring or working solely for a museum. His teaching methods are outdated and he expects graduate level work in order to give good grades. Most of the assignments that are assigned felt like unnecessary busy work. If you can take this course at a community college and transfer the credits do it!!!

I have no words. The hardest class Ive ever had to take. He was never directly rude to me, but I heard him or saw screenshots of emails he sent, being rude to others. Assigns way too much work to get done in a short amount of time and grades very harshly. He didnt use canvas to assign things or grade them so I didnt know my grade until the end.

Highly recommend not taking this teacher. He does everything through email, which makes everything very confusing. If he just used Canvas it would help the students out a lot. Even after a student asked him to use it, he still didn't. He also talks to his students like they're stupid when you ask for clarification on something.

Comment:
Dr. Woodward Grades certain assignments unfairly. He also is very unclear in his instructions for assignments and participation requirements. Most inconveniently he refuses to use canvas and doesn't use the grade book function in canvas. He almost solely lectures and gives disproportionately lengthly assignments in place of tests.

I have found him to be very unkind. He tends to target students and will often poke fun at students, but in a way that makes them feel embarrassed and hesitant to participate again. The environment he creates is uncomfortable and unsupportive. He is rude and can be unwilling to change his ways when he makes a mistake or does something unkind.

Comment:
Woodward is a very unkind person. He is extremely condescending and makes fun of students for asking questions. He is not clear with what needs to be done, and when you ask for clarification, he responds as if you're a child. If one thing upsets him, he will continue to bring it up throughout the class. The environment he sets is unwelcoming.

Dr. Woodward truly cares about his students and their success. He is funny, intelligent, and keeps lectures engaging. I was unaware that it was a writing course, and was not expecting the amount of essays. Definitely read the textbooks if you want to do well.

Difficult class, mostly because of the workload. Do the study guides as you read, it will really help with quizzes. Lots of writing on the midterm and final, but he will give you an idea of the essay questions to study. Get started early on the book critique and group project. He will always give help if you ask.

Quizzes are tough, midterms are all essay. Class is based on a curve so you don't know you're grade until the end. He is very intelligent but does not know how to convey it to the students.

Great prof! One of my top favorites at SPU. He is challenging, but in a good and fun way so that you actually learn something... I mean that's why we are here. I don't know why he has so many bad reviews because I think he is a great professor! He is very passionate about history and students and he shows he cares for his students a great deal.

I really don't know why he has so many bad reviews. I found his teaching style to be engaging and his formatting of content to be highly conducive to retaining information. I don't see why ppl find it so hard to follow his instructions. It's simple people. He is kind, helpful, and does the most essential part of his job well: he makes you think

There is a lot of reading but if you do the study guides he posts online and fill out the course handbook during lecture, you will have a much better chance at getting an A on quizzes - good luck on essays though. He is the sweetest guy, he loves history, he really cares about his students, and he will help you as much as he can.

I didn't listen to the comments and it is my biggest regret. I work hard for my grades, and it showed in every other class I took BUT this one. He is incredibly condescending and unclear. His assignment instructions are hard to follow. History was one of my favorite classes in high school. He made me hate it.

This guy is a joke. Claims to know baseball. Since I did play the game I always get a kick out of people who start throwing statistics at you, to make up for not being able to play the game.

Don't do it. He is awful. He is never clear about what he wants for quizzes or tests. He is INCREDIBLY ANNOYINGLY unorganized. He expects entirely too much reading to be done like this is the only class his students are taking. He is knowledgeable but expects his students to know everything as in depth has he does. I could go on. TRUST ME RUN AWAY!
