Comment:
I took Professor Yorke for Chem 121 and 122. He is a good professor and is lenient and understanding with homework and labs if you need extra time. These classes are by no means easy, but if you put the work and hours in, you will do well. With tests he gives partial credit if he can see in your work that you at least semi-understand it.

He's one of the worst professors I've ever gotten, his lectures are so confusing and he writes on the board so messy. Get ready to teach yourself if you have to take him.

Really old school. Writes all notes messily on the board and its really hard to follow/understand. He doesn't tell you when things are due and then gets confused when no one brings them in. Also, his tests are ridiculously hard. They are nothing like what we learned in class or on the hw and he doesn't tell you what to study.

Yorke is a godsend after my last chem professor. He understands that the material is hard and is helpful with giving real life examples and drilling the material over and over until you get it. If you have issues with the homework he will gladly extend the due date for everyone. Great guy.

Wonderful professor. Had to take the class twice because of my own issues and automatically picked him again. Very caring, understanding, easy-going, and knowledgeable

Dr Yorke is a great professor, hes very laid back when we need an extension on homework or if you hand in a lab report late. Hes a great teacher and is always open to questions and open to helping students. Would definitely take his class again.

Let's put it this way: there's less than one month left in the semester, and we've only taken 1 out of 3 of the tests we were supposed to take, not including the final. Frequently goes off tangent during lecture. Doesn't have a canvas page, reply to emails, post grades, or even give due dates. Hard to follow and has a hard time following you.

Took the summer chem 1 course, which takes 6 weeks so there's a lot to cover in a short time. Dr. Yorke explained a topic then would spend most of the class doing practice problems - pay attention to them and you'll do fine. Online HW worth 10%. Don't miss a lab since you can't really do a makeup one. Dr. Yorke did a great job and was very thorough

I have taken a total of 160 undergrad credits and Dr. Yorke is in the top 3 if not the worst professor I've ever taken. Exams are tough because he is not very clear on what to study. Homework is long. The only saving grace is that he is fairly lenient on lab grading. I received an A, but I definitely put in more work than my other classes for it.

I WOULD NEVER reccomend this professor to my worst enemy. He takes months to grade your labs, he never gives out practice tests or tells you in detail what to study for exams so you're always left surprised by what's on them. Whenever you have a question he treats you like you're stupid. I can't stand him.

His lectures are okay, certainly better than a lot of others I've had. The only downside is it was a 4-hour class and it was hard to stay in focus. He does give roughly hourly breaks. Tests are fairy easy and the final is just content heavy. Labs are confusing but he does go over them and will help you out if needed. HW is very tedioustime consume

Expects you to be in class everyday but it's not hard to make up what you miss. Just read the book for 10 minutes and you will understand the stuff it takes him 2 hours to explain

Dr. Yorke's class wasn't terrible. he went over the material and if you asked him for help you gave it. Don't ask his questions during class he doesn't like to be interrupted. Tests are long and hard but doable. The online homework helped a lot in learning the material

If you can stay awake during the lectures (no one does) than the tests follow them exactly and are pretty easy. I find the class extremely boring and he is not very helpful. His notes are all over the board, so good luck getting clear, organized notes. And don't expect any reviews for tests or final. Not taking him again for Chem 122.

While Yorke may not have easy tests, his teaching is great! I feel he is great with explaining and if you don't understand, ask and he will help you! Take your book to class. Participating in class with practice problems goes a long way.
