PROS : Wise professor with a good sense of humor, incredible coding skills, makes all concepts easy to understand. CONS: Can be loud at times, tough grader, very strict with the amount of time for tests. I do recommend him for all the CIS classes above (+ CIS 250) if you are passionate about CS and willing to work & study hard!

If you are looking to truly learn how to program using Python, he is an amazing professor. His course is not easy, but he curves the grades fairly. Your chance to boost your grade is through homework and projects. He is hilarious, and does an excellent job at ensuring his students are learning python the right way.

Wasnt a big fan of him this semester His tests are crazy hard I feel like in a way he wants us to fail I didnt really understand his lecture until I did the project Rather than that I was lost He's a nice funny guy but I feel like their could of been a better way for the material to be taught He curves exams based on the highest score onthatexam

Pros: knows programming inside out, respected, hilarious, helpful, cares about his students, textbook not needed, projects are straightforward. Cons: very unclear at times, tough (but fair) grader, yells too much, short-tempered. Dos: immediately ask when you don't understand something, participate, apply what you learn in lecture.

Well he understands what you're going through if you TALK to him. Go see him in his office or shoot him an e-mail. Most of the time he will not answer unless it's a question for a testproject. He takes his job seriously and is serious about helping his students. He is NOT an easy professor but he will treat you like an adult.

Let's face it--computer science is generally a tough subject. Professor Atshan clearly is very skilled at programming, but doesn't always bring that same fluency to teaching. He can be hard to understand, but one-on-one questions after class are never turned down, and he truly cares about his students. His grading is tough, but consistent and fair.

I took all but one high level programming course with Atshan and he is great. He loves teaching but his explanations can fall a bit short. He always has a little bit of time after class if you have questions and helps a lot during his office hours. He is also a great personality.

Great Professor! I graduated with my A.S in Computer Science in Spring 2013, and I'm now currently working towards my BS. All the knowledge that I gained during my time at PCCC easily transitions to my classes today. You'll learn a lot from this professor, take adavantage!

Common sense of computer. How to search, edit word, basic user stuff. Easy grading because of the extreme curve.I.e. get a 60 on the test you can get an A,if you get the one of the highest scores. He mostly uses power points(PP) that you put on your flash-drive. But study because the test are based on the PP! Text not need because of PP

Very knowledgable about the material. Homework is easy but timing consuming. Test is fair, just read the text book or save the slides to your flash drive. Only con about him is that he lectures on test day and takes up more than half the time, leaving you little time to take your test

I just took Professor Atshan this semester and to be honest his class is not hard at all. You don't use the textbook at all in class but you do need it for the test. Read the book and his power points and you would be fine. His homeworks are not hard but they are time consuming.
