I don't think this professor is as bad as people say he is but I don't think he great either. Hesa decent teacher however he can go off on a tangent alot of time when teaching, talking stuff that won't be on the exam. Quiz ever week, he tells you what's going to be on the quiz. Test are similar to his quizzes. Overall not bad but not great

He cant speak English well (broken English) and this class is like ESL. A lot of students do not understand what he says. The exam questions are very hard and sometimes he put questions on the exams that never taught. wasting time and money

BORING LECTURES! His "teaching" was just writing out all his notes on the chalk board for us to write pages of worthless notes. He puts questions on the test that he never taught. He never checks to see if students are understanding and his explanations when we don't understand don't help at all. Get ready to write A LOT. I do NOT recommend!

I would never take this professor again in my life! Never reminded us about the homework online, the entire class time revolved around his BORING lectures, where he spent 30 minutes on ONE PROBLEM!! This guy is just ridiculous doesnt even check to see if the class is following along with him and midway thru some problems hell realize he messed up

He doesn't give any practice problems to the students and doesn't really help when asked to explain it in better detail. When it comes to reviews, he ends up taking up to 30 minutes for a single problem. Most of the time, the students would tend to complain about not getting the work he gets paid to "teach." Would I recommend this teacher? Hell NO.

Overall this professor at times seemed under prepared. It was difficult to understand the material from his lectures especially since he taught so slowly that it didn't seem like he covered anything at all. When it came to answering questions he also wasn't very helpful. Even on the exams he did not provide any feedback at all.

I was lost after taking the first mid-term. He often gives you questions with weird function. He should state his expectation more clearly and show us the general way to do proofs on each type of problems. It is not going to be creative because most of them are standardized. But he rarely went over in class unless we asked and he says "it's easy"

Don't take his class, don't take his class, DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS. It was the worst possible experience in his class. His lectures lasted more than the class time but he never once stopped to see if we were able to follow his lecture. HW's or tests he never discussed & we never knew what we did wrong. Unless you are lucky be prepared for a "F"!

If you want to do well/ understand anything about linear algebra, don't take him. Textbook he uses is the worst, read: unhelpful. He's okay during office hrs. and emails, but generally tells you the problem is easy. Exams are on par with what you're supposed to know, but due to his lecture and book, likely you'll fail. Hw is also pretty difficult.

Good notes were given and I can just understand the concepts from the notes. 15 quizzed and 3 exams and final. Final will not be a problem if you do the homework and understand the quizzes. He is willing to answer all your questions.

He gives 3 exams and 15 quizzes throughout the semester. Quizzes help to keep you in track on your exam. Study for quizzes and guarantee atleast a B on exams. He also asks if you need help in any question before ever quiz !! So helpful

Honestly, he's a terrible instructor. Unless no other options exist, do not take him. Looking back there were so many things never explained to us about the course material. There are worksheets given to help with practice? I'm not sure because they were unsolvable given his lecture notes and pdf notes. Save yourself the headache and avoid him.

No homework given but you can do online assignments, they are not graded. Only would change one thing, he doesn't include the class in lectures or give examples to students. Therefore you have to really get it or practice examples on your own. That's where the homework helps.

If you have no choice but to take him then take him. But in all honesty the class was horrendous. His homework problems are really difficult and he provides no solutions. His quizzes are based off your homework sets but prepared to failed those because you never knew if your solutions to the homework problems were correct. (see above).

He gave 3 exams, 5 or 6 q's each and a quiz with 1 or 2 q's almost every week. He does this so the exams aren't too stressful and you can focus on the quizzes since its only 1 section. Your grade is solely on quizzes and exams. There is not any hw!

3 exams, 1 final. First exam average was 35%. Definitely DO NOT recommend him if you haven't taken calculus before. I passed with a B because I would study with a group EVERYDAY and I took AP calculus AB in high school. Even if you are a hard worker, I highly suggest you look into another professor.

If you're here and is deciding whether you should take Alberto Candel or not, please understand that HE IS TOUGH. 1st exam - class avg: 35%. 2nd exam was around that too. 3rd exam was split into quizzes and was a bit easier, but still difficult to bring your grade up after first two exams. Final is medium diff. REMINDER: KNOW SOME CALC B4 TAKING!

Although he cares about the students, his class was difficult overall. Overall grade of the class is based on 3 exams, 1 homework grade, and the final. His exams were more difficult than the final itself. Lectures were difficult to understand, mostly learned from the homework. Take it only if you have some experience with Calculus before hand.

Calculus is hard by itself, but this professor makes it even harder. He lectures by the book and the material may not be easy to understand at first, but then you can do the homework. Even if you get 100% on all the homework and understand the concepts, the tests are HARD. To save you time and effort, don't take unless you know calc already.

The class by itself is too hard, regardless of who is the professor. At the beginning he is tough, which I think is necessary for this class, but he really wants you to be successful. He is a nice professor, and I would recommend him.
