Dr. Kirkby is awesome! P. Chem is extremely difficult but Dr. Kirkby is willing to do anything to help you pass the class. If he sees you showing effort, he will make sure you pass.

Does not care if you pass or fail. Hard teacher and does not teach very clearly or well. Not very helpful. I did not enjoy this class at all and its not just because I do not like chemistry it was mainly the teacher I could not stand.

For a class like Pchem, kirkby was an exceptionally fair and forward teacher. There are 3 tests and a final, one of the three is dropped (lowest), they are very similar to the previous years test, which he pretty much tells you. Lectures are clear and he helps when you need it. Would take again.

I took Dr. Kirkby for Physical Chem I & II. He's a great, challenging teacher & a fair grader. He is available for questions during office hours, study sessions & by email. He provides notes and study guides. His test cover material you expect to see. If you complete the study guides and attend class, you will make an A.

Dr. Kirkby is a good teacher. His class does require studying, but that is expected. He is very fair and even offers extra credit. He also curves some of the tests. Would definitely take him again.

He insist on working problems "his way". Which is a way nobody really understand but him. Very boring. You will fight sleep in his class. He does give extra credit and helps at times but other than that he sucks. His notes are full of typos and he will say "I guess I can't highlight today".No he cant do it right everyday. He isn't a good teacher

I somehow made an A in this class. I took a lot of chemistry in highschool and had a very good teacher. I found the first month to be easy only because I was familiar. He is kind of monotone and boring, but he always emails back quick. 5 tests with the highest 4 grades used, 2 quizes, and surprise attendance quizes. Nice, but must read the book.

summer chem 1 course. quizzes a breeze-simple memorization. exams were short, multiple choice, and fair. clear lecture style. good powerpoints. helpful during office hrs. offered extra credit up to 10 points on FINAL GRADE! gave a HUGE curve on the final exam that helped me end up with an A-.. I worked for it but didn't kill myself. I like him!!!

Super easy! Took him over the summer and came out with an A! Test are 25 questions and multiple choice. Its college chemistry, you have to study but if you just get with a group of friends and study, there is no reason you shouldn't come out with an A!

I have had Kirkby for both General Chemistry I and Physical Chemistry I & II. Yes, Kirkby can be a difficult teacher. This is not because he is unfair, he just expects you to understand what is covered. He grades fairly, and if you see him outside of class, he will do everything he can to help you.

Bad. I took him for chem 1 in the summer and he got 2 chapters behind by the end of it. You'll depend on the book or being a very good exam guesser. Exams are all problems or left field definitions. Don't take unless you've no other options and get a tutor if you can.

Kirkby is highly knowledgeable and interested in chem. During office hours, his explanations were excellent and his patience rivaled that of Ghandi. He was very fair and inspired me to learn chemistry. Plus, he literally ADDS 10 points to your FINAL grade if you do an extra problem set. Hypothetically I didnĂ‚´t even need to take the final to pass.

I took him for a summer class, and yes I was expecting it to be tough, but not impossible. I studied on average 6-7 hours a day and got an A ONLY because at the end of the term he gave a 10 point extra credit assignment because the class average was an F. He does not explain things well, you basically teach yourself by reading the text book.

Took this course in the summer session so we had to move fast, but he was very easy to understand. If you are a good student and go to class you should have no trouble passing this class. Just do your homework.

There was homework on a website that cost $90 to use(fall 08)the hw was extremely hard, and never on the test. when asking him how to do the problems, he never answers how to do the problems and the powerpoint examples were always wrong. good luck getting help to understand how to work the problems.
