Comment:
Alfonso is the Virgil to my Dante. He opened my eyes and my mind to so many ideas, to a new philosophy on life. Alfonso is 10x more than a professor, and if all you're looking for is a class to fill some credit, don't bother; you don't deserve Alfonso. If you're looking to actually LEARN something, about literature and yourself, he's the one.

this class was a****show. no communication btwn the 3 profs and alfie's lectures were rambling. many people didn't come to class at all. we hardly discussed reading materials. he is charming for sure and tells great irrelevant stories about hitchhiking around italy in the 70s but is too absent-minded for my taste.

My prof and my adviser. Absolutely the man...and his office is a sweet hangout. Helpful, dedicated, fascinating and brilliant. Even if you don't speak Italian you can take his "Dolce Vita" class. Highly recommended.

A lovely man who will make you fall in love with Dante while reading about adultery together in the Smith gardens. But Federica should be teaching Purgatorio and Paradiso. Alfonso can guide you through the gritty, passionate, wild realms of hell, but you should be left with the stern maresciallo, the Beatrice of Italian profs, Fede (get it? Fede-ricca? unlike Federico the ironically un-rich-in-faith lord in Inf 13?) to go through the raffinamento of the most precise realms of Purgatorio . . .
