Comment:

I think these ratings are a bit harsh. I wouldn't consider her my favorite teacher, but if you simply attend class to fill in power points, study the power points for her exams, and put effort into your projects, you will easily pass with an A. She is not a tough grader. I had a high A in this class and never purchased the book.

Comment:

Dr. Ratcliff is a very nice person but not a very great teacher. She acted like she did not want the class to exist the entire semester. She is unorganized and never answers questions simply and clearly. Projects were more work because directions were unclear. She became VERY defensive when course problems were brought up and blamed us constantly.

Comment:

Horrible! We had a huge project and 3 days before it was due she changed how she wanted it done. Her power points are so confusing and unorganized. She passes around this book where you can write what she can do better but then gets super defensive about everything and blames us for not studying/trying. I almost changed my major because of her!

I was very disappointed in the lack of structure during this class. Dr. Ratcliff did not follow the syllabus and gave us unexpected major projects during the last couple of weeks of class when we were swamped with clinic work and finals. Her grading was ambiguous without a rubric. She Became combative when class members questioned her grading.

This professor is nice and is interested in her students lives.... She uses power points and never uses the book but expects us to read the book when we have simplified notes of the chapter, provided on blackboard. Oh and she gives random points that are not necessarily counted in the final. Ran into a grading issue and its still not resolved.

The professor is a complete sweetheart but not the best teacher. She gives you very wordy power points but if you take advantage of her office hours she will clear everything up for you.

She was very unclear the entire semester. We had a huge 20 page project to fill out and she was still telling us how to do stuff the week it was due. She talked about what she wanted to, and then gave us an Exam that was textbook-like material. The average was a D and she said she couldn't imagine what went wrong except we didn't study enough.

Show up to class everyday. She starts taking attendence when class gets low. The book isn't needed at all, waste of money. Take, and memorize, on-line quiz questions. She asks all the same ones on the exams. Easy A if you do that. She thinks too highly of herself, but she is nice if you are.

DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! She is really nice, but can't teach. She is not clear in her powerpoints or explaining the material. Have 2 big projects, but doesn't explain them clearly. If you go to her office hours she will help you though.

DO NOT buy the book. At times, does not explain topics clearly. For exams, study guides are very broad and not helpful. She is unsure of directions for assignments and exams. We had a huge project and she was still going over important information the class before it was due!

Dr. Ratcliff is a funny professor and not as bad as you think. Only two semester projects and exams are not that hard. Study guides are provided. I never used the book but some people found it helpful to follow along.

In-class assignments were never worth anything, exams were pretty hard b/c you never knew what to study b/c she's so unorganized, doing both SLS projects are terrible but she grades them easily. Mostly goes over powerpoints in class. Grammar is exam 1 and if you dont get it then, you're screwed b/c u use it for the rest of the semester.

Very nice lady and good teacher! You don't need the book she has powerpoints for everything. The first two weeks of class is all grammar but hang in there after that it's extremely easy. For the grammar exam you have 3 chances and it's online. She's always in her office if you need help and I learned a lot in the class.

Dr.Ratcliff is a nice and goofy lady but she's probably the most unorganized professor I have ever had at Central. She comes into class every week acting as though she doesn't know what's going on. The class was pointless and I feel that I haven't learned anything. Its easy if you go to class and do the assignments.

she is a great professor. I don't what you're all talking about. Lori basically reads out of a CDO FOR DUMMIES book. If you REALLY want to learn about being a speech therapist go with Ann. She's been the field for more years than Lori and she knows her stuff.
